A Padawan named Dan and his master, Tajin Crosser, travel through the stars, on their way to the Outer Rim. But Tajin suddenly senses a disturbance in the Force, and they bring the ship to a stop. "I sensed a darkness," Tajin says. "Something ancient and sinister." But it could not be the Sith, he says, as the dark warriors have been extinct for hundreds of years. They decide to visit Habo, the closest planet to their location.

They arrive at a village. Tajin says that the people of this planet are known to be shy, so he goes to speak with them first. Meanwhile, curious children play a game with Dan, exchanging winks from a distance.

But soon Tajin returns, explaining that an elder from an unknown tribe recently came to the planet and traveled into the mountains. Could he be the source of the disturbance? Tajin is unsure, but believes this elder has cloaked his presence. If so, he has most likely sensed the Jedi. Dan suggests they split up: he will go to the mountains, while his master looks for the elder's ship.

The local children guide Dan through the mountains. Tajin contacts Dan, reporting that he has found the elder's craft -- and that it resembles the ancient Sith starships. "I've got a bad feeling about this," he says.

Meanwhile, Dan spots the carcass of a Vamga. It appears to have been killed with a lightsaber. Tajin orders Dan to return, but as the Padawan rises, a cloaked old man stands in his path.

"A Jedi!" the man cackles, tossing off his robes. The elder ignites two red-bladed lightsabers, and Dan readies his defenses. The evil warrior attacks repeatedly, eventually cutting down the young Padawan. Tajin, sensing this darkness, hurries into the mountains.

Tajin and the elder duel, with the dark warrior delighting in the challenge. When the Jedi destroys one of his opponent's weapons, the elder becomes enraged and fires lightning back at Tajin. Tajin holds his position and blocks the torrent, but the elder raises his remaining lightsaber for a final strike.

Before he can destroy the Jedi, however, Dan's lightsaber soars through the air. The shocked elder blocks the attack, but as he turns to see that the Padawan still lives, Tajin quickly maneuvers and stabs the evil one through.

Tajin runs to Dan's side, and the dark warrior destroys his own ship before turning to dust.

Dan and Tajin talk about the enemy they've faced. The master says that it was time and age that defeated the elder in the end. In time, Dan will grow stronger -- as long as he remembers not to forget his training or his kindness.
