Ronin, accompanied by his droid, R5-D56, arrives at a small village. He finds a vendor and silently enjoys a drink, but his quiet respite is soon interrupted.

Bandits emerge from an armored transport and terrorize the villagers, capturing many. The young village chief rises to face them, and his bodyguards attack the intruders.

Suddenly, a masked figure in black rises from the top of the bandits' vehicle. Her staff transforms and spins red lightsaber blades in a tornado of violence, and the villagers realize she is Sith. From above she deflects blaster fire in all directions, and a stray bolt hits Ronin's droid companion. He asks the shopkeeper to fix R5-D56 so that he can use the droid by the time a pot of water boils. With that, Ronin walks slowly toward the village square.

Ronin comes to face the Sith, revealing his own red-bladed lightsaber! "It's a shame I'm not a Jedi," he says. They duel across the village while the shopkeeper toils away on the droid.

As the Sith and Ronin float downriver, one of the marauders races in. He reports that they've captured the young chief. The Sith orders her opponent to drop his weapon, and Ronin places the lightsaber back in its sheath. But the sound of boiling water echoes throughout the village, and Ronin activates a signal.

R5-D56, now fully repaired, soars from the shop. Its hidden weapons blast the raiders as it frees the villagers. The Sith angrily charges Ronin, knocking him over the river's edge. She follows to finish him, and sees his red blade behind the waterfall. But when she attacks, she finds that it was a trick! Ronin then ends their battle with one swift strike.

Ronin returns to the village, and the shopkeeper and young chief express their gratitude. He offers the shopkeeper extra payment for his trouble: the Sith's staff.

The boy says that Ronin must be a Jedi and asks his name. Silently, Ronin drops the Sith's weapon to the ground and activates his own red-bladed weapon. This shocks the villagers.

Suddenly, Ronin pierces the Sith's hilt as it lies on the ground, revealing a glowing red crystal. He picks it up and readies to place it with a collection he keeps in his kimono. Ronin stops, however, and offers it to the boy. "It wards off evil spirits. Take great care of it," he says.

Their work done, Ronin and R5-D56 turn and take their leave of the village, walking slowly toward an unknown future.
