At Coruscant's clone watering hole, 79's, two clones named Cade and Slip talk in hushed tones. Cade is angry with "Rampart's lies" and the destruction of Kamino, and claims to have sent the Imperial a message. "Gave him the chance to tell the Senate the truth," he says to Slip. "Before I did it myself."

Outside, the two stop and talk when suddenly Cade is hit with blaster fire from behind! Slip takes cover and returns fire, barely managing to escape. In the distance, a sniper quietly departs.

In the Senate, debate rages over Rampart's Defense Recruitment Bill, proposed in the wake of Kamino's destruction. Senator Chuchi argues that the Senate must devise a plan to care for the clones before any creation of a new military.

Mas Amedda, one of the Emperor's most trusted aides, chastises Rampart for his failure to push the bill through. Meanwhile, Senator Chuchi goes to 79's, looking to learn more about the clones' needs. "You spent years fighting for us. Let me fight for you," she says.

The clones ultimately agree. Afterwards, Slip approaches the senator alone. He tells her the truth about Kamino, leaving her in shock.

Slip, paranoid that he's a target, contacts someone for help getting off Coruscant.

The senator goes to speak with Rampart about benefits for the clones in his bill. Her suspicions raised, she asks how he survived Kamino. He claims to have been offworld, and tensions in the room rise with the senator's pointed remarks.

Senator Chuchi receives a secure communication. Soon, she goes to a Coruscant back alley and finds Senator Organa waiting. He brings up the rising number of insurgencies, and the Emperor's fear of such rebellion, while voicing his own suspicions of what happened to Kamino. Chuchi tells of how Slip confided in her.

In his office, Rampart contacts a bounty hunter. He asks for an update on Slip — and orders the mercenary to follow the senator. "If she finds him, handle it," Rampart says. "Ensure it can't lead back to me."

A visibly nervous Slip arrives at an isolated street and radios his contact, ready to leave. Turning the corner, however, is Senator Chuchi. She implores the clone to testify before the senate, but he only grows more panicked.

Finally, Slip tells her to look for evidence on Rampart's ship — just before a shot from above strikes his chest. More blasts follow, wiping out most of the senator's security detail.

The senator and her last surviving guard make it to a nearby factory, but the assassin follows. Soon, she finds herself alone. A shadowy figure approaches, blaster in hand...

...and stuns the bounty hunter behind the senator. It's Captain Rex, who had come to meet Slip.

Rex inspects the downed assassin, removing his helmet to reveal the face of a clone.

They take the clone to a familiar garage for questioning. "You're fighting the wrong battle, brother," the clone says as he wakes. Before he can answer more questions, however, the assassin ends the discussion permanently. Senator Chuchi looks on in a mix of disbelief and horror.
