A Padawan named Jay, running from the carnage of the Clone Wars, loses his balance and damages his lightsaber as he tumbles. As the lights go up in this strange, colorful new place, the Jedi meets a stranger who will change the course of his life.
-
Time flashes forward and Jay, now with long, shaggy hair, is the lead singer for a band called Star Waver. As a small crowd gathers, Jay introduces his bandmates: Geezer "Gee" on flaming rumble bass, the three-headed Lan on cluster drums, K-344 "Kurti" on mechanical dual guitar, and V-5 on mechnical sounds. But not everyone at the concert is a fan.
-
Walking with purpose, Boba Fett confronts Gee and threatens his friends only to be blown back by the force of his flame-throwing instrument as the rest of the band takes on his bounty hunting crew.
-
The performance cut short, the band escapes on their ship, the Rolling Gales, but Fett follows close behind. As blaster fire rains down upon the ship and the lights dim, Jay begins to sweat. "I've got a bad feeling about this," he mutters.
-
Boba surveys the wreckage and his quarry. Realizing that his friends could be hurt if he doesn't surrender, Gee is led to the bounty hunter's ship. But Jay won't let Gee go without a fight. Facing the masked hunter, he raises his lightsaber in shaking hands and clicks the ignition button. It sputters and sizzles, but no blade appears.
-
As the members of Star Waver repair their damaged ship, Jay wrestles with his friend's fate. Kurti seems sure that they couldn't have helped Gee. But Jay thinks back to their first meeting, flashing back to when he was a scared and desperate Padawan and Gee offered him a hand and a new role to escape into.
-
A recording of the band's first rehearsal forces them all to remember how Gee helped them come together to achieve their dream of playing music, scrappy newcomers who would travel the galaxy united in song and bringing joy to people who heard them.
-
Jay runs into the rain in frustration and lets out a guttural scream. As the clouds part and sun begins to filter onto the world, Jay turns to his friends with a smile. He has an idea.
-
On Tatooine, Gee gets a brief stay of execution. His bandmates have negotiated a deal with Jabba: one last song in front of the biggest crowd they've ever played before Gee is put to death.
-
The performance is electric. The crowd leaps to their feet cheering, as children gather around screens for a closer look; even Jabba's tail twitches to the beat.
-
Seeing one last opportunity to save his friend as the song comes to an end, Jay grabs the mic. "We're going to be the number one band in the galaxy!" he boasts. "Do you want to be the first sponsor?"
-
With the crowd's support, Jabba calls off his hired guns. Gee is saved and Star Waver gets the chance to play on.
