Yeager wakes Kaz extra early -- much to the young pilot's dismay -- for a salvaging job. When they arrive at their destination, however, Kaz is surprised to find that there is no work contract; rather, Yeager has taken the young pilot to a secret meeting with Poe Dameron himself. Moreover, Poe brought an extra X-wing with him -- just for Kaz.

Poe and Kaz discuss recent developments on the Colossus, but they also have some fun: Dameron teaches Kaz a "backwards tail slide," which the boy can't quite master. They soon pick up a distress beacon, however, and find a freighter decimated by a pirate attack. Detecting life signs, they dock and enter the ship.

The craft's corridors are silent and dark. They move carefully looking for survivors. It appears they're alone...at first. In the distance, something big and loud grabs fleeing passengers, their screams silenced quickly. Poe and Kaz proceed, unsure of what's loose in the ship and when it might strike.

If that wasn't enough to worry about, they're soon attacked by Kowakian monkey-lizards! Eventually, they chase the troublemaking critters off.

Finally, KAz's BB-unit, CB-23, finds the source of its life scans -- a passenger, unconscious and hiding in a crate. "I bet she locked herself in here to escape that thing," Kaz says to Poe. He lifts her out and carries her, but they don't get far. Something is waiting at the blast door...

A Kowakian ape! The giant beast chases our heroes, cackling like its smaller cousins.

The creature is relentless, Poe's blasts barely slowing it. Still, they manage to get back to their X-wings, narrowly escaping the monstrous ape.

But it's not smooth sailing back home, as Poe and Kaz find pirates waiting. Thanks to his somewhat customized version of Poe's trick, Kaz bests a pursuing foe, and they finally return to Yeager's ship.

After Poe says his goodbyes, the rescued passenger, Synara, awakens; she's confused and disoriented, and says everything she owned was stolen by the pirates. Kaz assures her that she's safe, and helps her get registered.

He may have acted too hastily. Once alone, Synara contacts Kragan Gorr, the pirate gang's leader! While she and a crew were sent in to steal the Kowakian ape -- a scheme that did not go as planned -- this end result may be even better. Kragan orders her to blend in on the Colossus, and an assignment will soon follow...
