The planet Agamar dates back to 1993, where it was a setting in The Farlander Papers, a pack-in novella found in the Star Wars: X-Wing Space Combat Simulator game. This is its first on-screen depiction (though it was mentioned in Star Wars: The Clone Wars).

Updating the battle droid model had long been on the wish-list of the Lucasfilm Animation team working on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but it was never prioritized. As such, the same design lasted throughout the run of the series. The upgrade – which results on the droid more closely resembling its live-action incarnation – finally occurs for Star Wars Rebels.

Returning to provide the voice of General Kalani is Gregg Berger, who voiced Kalani in Season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. A veteran voice actor, Berger is known for such voices as Odie (Garfield), Cornfed (Duckman), Spirit (G.I.JOE: A Real American Hero), and Grimlock (The Transformers).

The march of the battle droids uses a theme composed by Kevin Kiner for the very first season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
-
In the original outline of the episode, Ezra was to befriend battle droid B1-268 and nickname him “Clanky,” but this was cut early in the episode’s production.
-
The end title card has been redesigned to resemble the opening title card on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and this episode uses the end theme music from that animated series.
