Ezra and the crew watch Mon Mothma's daring speech before the Senate, condemning the Emperor's tyranny and calling him "a lying executioner."
While the team waits for their contact, an Imperial infiltrator droid arrives. Ezra destroys the probe before it can make the jump to hyperspace, and Hera docks with a rebel transport for a special mission.
The Gold Squadron pilots aren't very happy with the Ghost crew, who are just a little too reckless for their liking. In turn, Ezra charges that they should've been given more information regarding the current mission. But there's little time for debate: the Empire has found them.
As the pilots scramble to their fighters -- including Ezra, who joins the fray in a Y-wing -- a surprising figure emerges. Mon Mothma enters the Ghost and quickly gets to work helping Chopper detach the ship. Once detached, Hera flies them to safety.
Mon Mothma's attaché, Erskin Semaj, implores the senator to forget this mission and go into hiding. "No hiding," she says. "My presence at the meeting is not optional." Mothma is looking to form an alliance among the rebel cells.
Thrawn deduces that Mothma escaped aboard the Ghost. He believes they will pass through the Archeon Nebula; Governor Pryce and Admiral Konstantine will meet them there.
The rebels enter the nebula with incoming fighters -- led by Vult Skerris, piloting a prototype TIE defender armed with heavy cannons and shields -- close behind. Meanwhile, all ships run the risk of burning up in the extreme temperatures. Still, the Ghost makes it to the other side...
...to find two Star Destroyers waiting. Pryce and Konstantine demand their surrender, capturing the Ghost in a tractor beam. Ezra and Gold Leader fire proton torpedoes into the nebula, causing a reaction that overtakes the Imperial ships. The Ghost breaks free of the tractor beam, and the rebels make the jump to lightspeed.
Now safe, Mon Mothma broadcasts a message from the Ghost. She announces her resignation from the Senate, saying, "We will not rest until we bring an end to the Empire, until we restore our Republic. Are you with me?"
Suddenly, many ships emerge from hyperspace. "This, my friends -- this is our Rebellion," Mothma says.
