While asleep in the Ghost, Ezra tosses and turns. Voices call to him in his sleep. They sound like his mother and father, and they lead him to a white loth-cat. It hisses, and he sees his parents, himself wielding a lightsaber, TIE fighters, and a mysterious figure. Suddenly, he awakens.
-
Shaken by the vision, Ezra believes his parents are alive and he must find them. Kanan and Hera reveal that they've been working to find them. Tseebo had some intel on Imperial prisons where they could be held, but there are more than 1,000.
-
Meanwhile, Agent Kallus confirms the Inquisitors' reports: the rebels are on Garel, using multiple spaceports to hide their fleet. The Imperial fleet deploys for Garel.
-
Back on the Ghost, Kanan and Hera reveal a list of prisoners held at one time by the Empire. Kanan teaches Ezra to reach out with the Force, and maybe he'll learn something.
-
Again, he sees visions -- his parents, the mysterious figure, and the white loth-cat. He commands Hera to stop scrolling through the list, and she lands on Prisoner X-10, who was arrested on Lothal for treason. He might be onto something, and Ezra decides he must return home to help his parents.
-
Frantically, Ezra looks for his helmet so that he can leave. "This is a sign, I'm supposed to go...Where's my stupid helmet!" Kanan enters, saying Ezra doesn't have to go alone. Hera says they're family. But the happy moment doesn't last -- the Empire has arrived.
-
A squad of troopers enter their hangar, ready for battle. They pin Kanan, Ezra, Chopper, and Zeb. This delay just angers Ezra. "We don't have all day!" he says, and runs toward the enemy.
-
He deflects blaster shots with ease, and Force pushes Kallus violently against a wall. The battle is won...momentarily.
-
The Inquisitors stand ready for the Padawan. Ezra grits his teeth and charges, despite Kanan's protests. Just before lightsabers could clash, Kanan blasts the blast door controls to stop his apprentice. They'll take the long way around and get back to the Ghost.
-
On the rebel command ship, Sato and Rex ready the evacuation. Hera gives the order, and they follow her lead into the stratosphere.
-
Admiral Konstantine is waiting, and dispatches TIEs to combat the rebels. He orders his men to target the command ship with the tractor beam.
-
During the fray, Kanan and Ezra take the Phantom, fighting off the enemy. Hera commands that they head to Lothal; she'll stay with the fleet. It may be too late, however; the Admiral Konstantine's Star Destroyer has the command ship in its clutches.
-
But thanks to an idea from Sabine, it's not too late. The Ghost closes in on the Star Destroyer and rams its tractor beam. The command ship is free, and the fleet makes the jump to lightspeed.
-
Ezra and Kanan arrive at Lothal. The Padawan is thankful for his Master's help. "You're always there when I need you most," he says. Kanan says he knows what it's like to lose someone close. He didn't want Ezra to be alone, regardless of how this turns out.
-
While Ezra finds his old home has been burned by the Empire, he soon spots the loth-cat from his visions. It leads him on a chase through the city streets, but Ezra manages to plant a tracker on the creature.
-
Ezra and Kanan follow the signal to the Lothal outskirts, where they come under blaster fire from an unseen attacker. Ezra knows it's the man they're looking for: Prisoner X-10. Ezra reveals his name, and says he believes that the former prisoner knows his parents, Ephraim and Mira Bridger. The blaster fire stops.
-
"My name is Ryder Azadi," says the mysterious figure. "You're right. I know your parents."
-
Ryder is the former governor of Lothal, tried for treason when he stood against the Empire with Ezra's parents. And he knows what happens to them. "They're dead, aren't they?" Ezra asks. "I'm sorry, son. They are." But Ryder says that Ezra's broadcast reached his parents, even in prison. It inspired them to lead an escape.
-
They sacrificed themselves to make sure others got out. Ezra understands their sacrifice, but still cries at this new reality.
-
Later that evening, the Padawan sits alone in the twilight of Lothal's two moons. Suddenly, he's transported.
-
Lothal is bright, sunny, beautiful. His parents stands with him. "Remember, Ezra," his mother says. "Without hope we have nothing." They disappear.
-
Ezra is then joined by Kanan who informs him that the Jedi teach that life does not cease after death but merely changes form in the Force. His parents will always be alive within him.
