Sabine meets with Fenn Rau in his cell, imploring him and his Protectors to join the rebellion. He maintains that his true loyalty is to Mandalore, and would work with Sabine if he was free -- but only if they were in service of their homeworld.
Before the discussion can continue, they’re interrupted; the rebellion has lost contact with the Mandalorian base on Concord Dawn. Rebel leadership worries that the Mandalorians are setting a trap. Rau insists that is not the case, and volunteers to help investigate.
Arriving at Mandalore, they find the planet torn in half. Ezra is shocked, taking his eyes off Rau. Fenn uses the opportunity to knock Ezra out and stun Sabine.
Sabine and Ezra wake up to find they’ve landed, with Rau standing listlessly outside. The Mandalorian base is decimated, destroyed not by the Empire, but by other Mandalorians, he says.
After an encounter with a probe droid, they spot a new threat: Imperial Super Commandos, or Mandalorians who serve the Empire. The rebels and Rau take cover, but Ezra and Chopper are captured.
Gar Saxon, Imperial Viceroy of Mandalore, interrogates them. The Empire knows the rebellion has been using Concord Dawn to avoid Imperial detection, and Saxon threatens to blast Chopper unless Ezra tells them the truth.
Charges roll inside the bunker. They detonate, and Sabine runs in under cover of smoke, rescuing Ezra and Chopper. They run back toward the Phantom II, looking to escape…and watch as Rau takes off without them, leaving them surrounded.
Saxon says he knows who Sabine is, and that her mother stands with the Empire. He offers an ultimatum: give him Fenn Rau, or Sabine and Ezra die. Sabine hands Chopper her helmet and kneels, appearing to acquiesce. Suddenly, her helmet emits a piercing frequency, and the rebels make a hasty getaway.
The Mandalorians chase the rebels through the planet’s caverns, and eventually bring them crashing down. Before they can finish them off, Rau appears in the Phantom II, holding the Mandalorians off. Sabine and Saxon trade blows, and she finally makes it onto to the ship.
Aboard the Phantom II, Rau says he was impressed that they were willing to die for their cause. He agrees to join the rebellion.
