The Empire chases Cham Syndulla and Numa. When they’re pushed toward a cliff’s edge, Hera radios, advising they turn around. She flies the Ghost down low, blasting a troop transport, and lowers the access ramp. Cham and Numa jump on.
-
Hera and her father reunite. Cham says that the Imperials now occupy the entire Tann province -- the area where Hera grew up on Ryloth -- as he underestimated the commander, Captain Slavin. Somehow, he’s more precise than he used to be. Slavin made the Syndulla home his headquarters, even taking the Kalikori, a family heirloom. Hera resolves to get it back.
-
But how will they sneak into the base? Ezra dons recovered biker scout’s armor, and escorts Hera in as his prisoner. Chopper also joins the mission, going undercover as an Imperial astromech.
-
They quickly make their way into Cham’s office, and Hera finds the artifact. But they’re not out of this yet. While trying to escape, Hera runs into…
-
…Grand Admiral Thrawn. Though she poses as a servant, he takes an immediate interest in her and the Kalikori. Thrawn knows what the heirloom is, and uses it to deduce that the peasant before him is in fact Hera Syndulla, rebel pilot and daughter of Cham Syndulla. He then stun-blasts Ezra, knowing she’d have a friend nearby.
-
Captain Slavin contacts Cham and the Ghost crew, who are engaged in a firefight with Imperials. Slavin says that Hera and Ezra will be executed unless Cham surrenders to the Empire.
-
Chopper makes his way to Hera and Ezra. Hera realizes they’ll never escape, so they must go through with the exchange -- but on her terms. They will blow up her home. She sends Chopper to gather explosives.
-
Outside, they ready the prisoner trade. Hera and Ezra are handed over to the rebels, and then Hera gives the signal… Charges detonate throughout the structure! Slavin orders his remaining troops to fire, and Kanan halts their attack, blocking blaster bolts and redirecting a missile toward a walker.
-
Thrawn orders the troops to stand down. The rebels have earned their victory. And he has found this experience “to be very enlightening.”
-
On the Ghost, Hera realizes she didn’t need the Kalikori to keep her mother’s memory alive. She has Kanan, her father, and her friends. As long as they hold onto that, her mother will live on.
