Commander Sato and Senator Organa contact the Ghost with details of a new mission. A rebel team investing the disappearance of the Geonosians has gone missing. The Ghost crew is to recover the rebels and their intel. They’re looking for Saw Gerrera, the legendary freedom fighter.
Saw Gerrera emerges. He’s a scarred, hardened warrior, but greets Rex warmly.
Arriving at Geonosis, they find the planet deserted like last time, but Sabine is picking up a power source.
Inside the Geonosis catacombs, the rebels are attacked by an unexpected enemy: battle droids and a droideka. Outmatched, they plan to retreat -- until a surprise explosion destroys the machines.
Outside, Sabine and Zeb have located a fully-operational shield generator. Chopper Base is in need of a shield, so they get to work on extracting the deflector core. But what was this shield generator protecting?
Saw informs the rebels that a Geonosian -- a “bug” – wiped out his team using the Separatist droids. It’s imperative they find him; he is the key to knowing why the Empire eliminated the Geonosians, and what they were building here.
Sabine and Rex move the core to the Ghost, but are surrounded by battle droids. They use the core’s shield for protection, but it won’t last long.
Finally, Ezra finds the missing Geonosian. They struggle, and the winged alien drops a remote.
Saw blasts the device, shutting down the droids attacking Sabine and Zeb on the surface. He angrily approaches the Geonosian. “Now you’re going to tell us what’s been going on here,” he says to the frightened being.
Ezra believes the Geonosian is frightened, and tries to talk with him. He calls him Klik-Klak, and asks what the Empire might have been up to. Klik-Klak draws a circle within a circle in the dirt…
Meanwhile, the Empire has detected activity on the Geonosis surface. They dispatch TIE bombers to investigate.
In his quarters, Klik-Klak reveals what he’s been protecting: a Geonosian queen egg. It could mean the survival of his species, but Saw doesn’t care. He wants to bring the alien back for interrogation.
The Empire arrives and engages the Ghost. They shoot down the bombers, but reinforcements are sure to arrive. Hera takes the ship underground and the rebels climb aboard.
The rebels and Saw reach an agreement: Klik-Klak will come to Chopper Base for questioning, then be returned to his home. But Saw doesn’t want to be soft. He threatens to destroy the egg unless he can take the Geonosian.
There’s no time to debate, however, as the Empire has dispatched rocket troopers. The rebels hold them off, and reach the lower levels of the planet.
Fully underground, the rebels find poison gas canisters -- evidence that the Empire committed atrocities against the Geonosian people. The rebels take them as evidence, and Saw allows Klik-Klak to remain.
The Empire looks to bury the rebels alive. The Ghost screams out of the cave, and blasts the Imperial ship in two. But they lose the canisters in the process.
Still, the mission was a success. Images of the canisters may recruit more systems to the rebel cause, the shield core will help the rebellion, and Saw was rescued. The mystery of what the Empire was building on Geonosis, however, remains.
