After losing fighters and pilots in a devastating attack, the rebellion decides to act on intel provided by another Fulcrum agent. They will send Sabine undercover as an Imperial cadet and extract defectors.
-
At the academy, Sabine is assigned a training simulation. Her partner for the exercise is a confident, gifted young pilot named Wedge.
-
After hesitating to destroy a defenseless rebel craft, the two are chastised by their instructor to always follow orders.
-
Shortly thereafter, Governor Pryce and Agent Kallus arrive. They believe that some of the cadets are ready to defect, and are conducting a full investigation.
-
Finally, Sabine talks with Wedge. He confides his disillusionment with the Empire, and Sabine reveals that she’s there to extract him and his friends.
-
The plan: on an impending space flight, Sabine will signal a rebel ship, which is standing by. Wedge and his friends Rake and Hobbie will follow.
-
The dogfight session underway, Sabine leads the fighters away toward a rebel ship. Pryce has her defectors; she remotely dismantles the ships’ wings, and orders one of the craft destroyed. Sabine and the cadets watch helplessly as Rake’s fighter explodes.
-
With the surviving cadets in Imperial custody, Pryce looks to find which is the rebel agent. Sabine volunteers the information to save Wedge, and then battles Pryce before escaping.
-
Sabine frees Wedge and Hobbie from their cell, and they get some unexpected help: Kallus informs them of the safest route through the base. “Tell Garazeb Orrelios we’re even,” he says.
-
The three make their getaway in a TIE bomber, surviving an Imperial pursuit thanks to Kanan and Ezra. Back at Atollan, Commander Sato welcomes Wedge and Hobbie to the rebellion.
