The rebels elect a new leader! Their training complete, Obi-Wan and Anakin have left Ahsoka on Onderon to monitor and advise the rebels as they continue to strike Separatist targets under the command of Steela Gerrera. Facing an escalation of rebel attacks, the Separatists have sent reinforcements to strengthen their hold on the city of Iziz as the battle for the planet unfolds...
-
Throughout the city of Iziz, rebels surreptitiously place holographic projectors at key, strategic locations. Saw Gerrera spots a reinforced Separatist column marching through the city -- squads of battle droids preceding an MTT transport with an AAT bringing up the rear. From her rooftop vantage point, Steela leads the rebel charge against the droid forces.
-
A hail of blaster fire rains down from the rooftops, shredding the incoming droids. Rebels toss grenades into the column, which explode and toss the battle droids into the air. The MTT opens up, deploying burly super battle droids into battle. Saw races up to the AAT and throws grenades into its vulnerable hatches. In mere seconds, the droid patrol has been reduced to twisted metal and cinders.
-
Across the holographic transmitters scattered throughout the city, Steela's image appears, offering words of encouragement to the Onderonians, rallying them to take back their freedom. She calls out King Rash as a traitor to the planet. Her stirring words help ease the fears of a beleaguered populace.
-
At the royal citadel, King Rash grouses about the rebel threat. The cold, implacable tactical droid, General Kalani, assures the king that the rebels will be crushed. Rash's human military commander, General Tandin, suggests turning security over to the Onderon royal militia, since the rebels seem to be targeting droid soldiers only. Perhaps if they had to open fire on their fellow countrymen, the rebels would be open to negotiation.
-
Rash's astromech droid projects an image of Steela Gerrera and Lux Bonteri. Rash is convinced that King Dendup is somehow behind the insurrection. Rash's guards march in the old king, and Rash once again demands that Dendup call off the attacks. Dendup again claims the rebellion is the will of the people.
-
At the rebel safehouse, Dono comes running to inform Steela of shocking news: Rash is executing King Dendup tomorrow in Yolahn Square. Steela realizes they are making an example of the king to humiliate the rebels.
-
Ahsoka suggests that his death would only make him a martyr and perhaps bolster their cause. Saw wants to rescue him now, while Steela believes a public rescue will better help their cause. Saw refuses to follow orders and marches away. Steela quietly tells Dono to follow him.
-
That night in the safe house, Lux tries to assure a frustrated Steela that Saw will be okay. Steela focuses on the plan to save Dendup from execution. She rebuffs Lux's interests -- "Please don't look at me like that," she says. Lux apologizes, and with hesitation, walks away.
-
Meanwhile, Ahsoka communicates via hologram with Obi-Wan and Anakin. She is worried that the rebels are divided, and that the risk of saving just one being -- Dendup -- is too high. Ahsoka feels responsible for the rebels, but the older Jedi try to remind her to focus on her purpose, not her emotions.
-
Outside the royal prison enclave, Saw fires a grappling hook into an overhang and scales the wall. Saw swears fealty to Dendup and offers to rescue him. Dendup is disappointed that it has come to this: violence perpetrated in his name. He recalls how his attempt to remain neutral in the conflict only resulted in his ouster by the Separatists. He brightens upon mention that the Jedi are helping the rebels.
-
Saw fires his grappling line into the air, only to discover that a one-way shield is blocking his path. Klaxons wail, spotlights circle, and destroyer droids roll in to surround Saw. It was a trap. From the ground, Dono helplessly watches this turn of events.
-
At the safe house, Steela concludes the rebel briefing concerning the rescue of King Dendup. Lux invites Ahsoka to join the rebels, but she cannot. She can only observe. Breathlessly, Dono comes rushing in with news of Saw's capture. Lux is determined to save Saw, but Steela calls off any effort to rescue her brother. King Dendup is the priority, and the rebels do not have the manpower to rescue both. Ahsoka agrees with Steela.
-
Within the royal central command, Saw undergoes brutal electric torture, supervised by Kalani. Tandin calls for a cease in the interrogation -- he must keep Saw alive for he is a link to the terrorists. Kalani suspects Tandin pities their prisoner.
-
In General Tandin's antechamber, Tandin sits with the weakened Saw, offering him a cup of tea. Saw remains defiant in the face of Tandin's sympathy. Tandin warns Saw that aligning himself with the past -- the lost reign of King Dendup -- will not bode well for his future. Saw counters that he prefers a future of freedom, rather than becoming a slave to the Separatists. The words weigh heavily on Tandin.
-
At the steps of the Unifar Temple in Yolahn Square, hundreds of citizens gather to await the fate of King Dendup. King Rash leads the prisoners flanked by MagnaGuard droids towards a guillotine made of laser energy. Rash addresses the citizens, proclaiming Dendup to be a criminal and a terrorist. The rebels watch from within the crowd.
-
Dendup places his head within the energy field. The MagnaGuards ready their strike. At the last moment, Steela and the rebels spring into action. Steela is hoisted above the crowd by fellow rebels and blasts the MangaDroids with her sniper rifle. Lux throws smoke grenades up at the platform as the other rebels rush in. They knock over Rash and Kalani and free Dendup and Saw.
-
As they attempt to make their way off the platform, however, they run into a super battle droid squad. A blaster bolt kills Dono. The rebels are surrounded. Dendup surrenders and the rebels drop their arms. The citizens call for their release, but the battle droids show no sympathy. The execution is to continue. King Rash tries to calm the crowd. Ahsoka watches from the gallery, ready to spring into action despite orders to refrain.
-
The execution is once more interrupted, this time by General Tandin, who leads a squad of royal Onderonian guards in surrounding Rash and his droids. Tandin holds Rash in front of him as a shield. The audience cheers this reversal. Tandin tells Dendup and the rebels to flee and disappear into the crowd.
-
Tandin is left alone with Rash. He is targeted by many battle droids, unable to move. Suddenly, Ahsoka leaps from the square, and lands in between Tandin and his newfound enemies. She uses the Force to temporarily bowl over the droids, and flees with the general.
-
Later, in the safe house, Tandin swears his loyalty to Dendup, and commits his army to his cause. Dendup is determined to win the will of the people. Lux expresses his gratitude to Ahsoka for her assistance.
-
Ahsoka reports to Obi-Wan and Anakin. She admits that the Separatists now know the Jedi are backing the rebels. The fight will no doubt intensify. Whether or not Ahsoka can expect assistance is up to the Jedi Council.
