Death and destruction! Darth Maul and Savage Opress spread chaos as they descend on the Outer Rim. After rescuing his brother from despair, Savage and Maul murder and pillage at every turn! Fueled by rage and vengeance, they search for meaning in their new alliance as reports of their brutal attacks spread across the galaxy...
-
The power suspiciously shuts down aboard a space station in the Cybloc system of the Meridian sector, snapping its police droids to attention. The droids fan out, patrolling the offices and corridors of the station, seeking out intruders. Maul and Savage cut through the police droid squads, and make their way into one of the main offices of the station. There, Savage slices open a vault revealing a fortune in credit chips.
-
Maul cares little for riches. He instead has bigger plans to deal with the Jedi that will inevitably come in pursuit. Though Savage wishes for an equal partnership with his brother, Maul makes it clear—forcibly, through a rapid display of lightsaber strikes—that he is the Master, and Savage is the apprentice.
-
A Jedi T-6 shuttle carrying Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Adi Gallia emerges from hyperspace, responding to a distress signal from the station. Kenobi and Gallia have been tracking the scourge of the Sith brothers, and believe this to be their work. The Jedi meet with the warehouse supervisor of the station, who verifies that the attackers were Zabraks wielding lightsabers. The assailants have escaped aboard the supervisor's ship, headed for the Sertar sector.
-
In space above Florrum, a Weequay saucer ship piloted by the pirate Jiro approaches a drifting cargo vessel. Sensor scans reveal life-forms aboard, but inoperative hyperdrive and reactor. Jiro grins at such easy pickings. The pirates board the ship and crack open its cargo crates, revealing heavy blaster pistols and a trove of pure sansanna spice. But before the pirates can celebrate, they are confronted by the Sith brothers.
-
Maul throttles Jiro with the Force. With Jiro's undivided attention, Maul and Savage make the pirate an offer: his life spared, as well as a trove of riches, in exchange for his servitude. Jiro agrees to follow the commands of these new, impressive crime lords and will bring more of his men into their service.
-
Two more pirate vessels flank Jiro's saucer. Aboard Maul's cargo ship, Jiro has been joined by other Weequay pirate captains, including the hulking Goru and the smaller Sabo, who is far more cautious than Jiro. Sabo refuses to betray Hondo Ohnaka.
-
At his junk-strewn base on Florrum, Hondo listens to Maul's ultimatum via hologram. Maul announces that he has secured the loyalty of three of Hondo's key lieutenants, and he coldly kills the lone holdout, Sabo, by running him through with a lightsaber. Hondo stands defiant, however, unfazed by this display of Maul's deadliness.
-
The Jedi shuttle approaches Florrum. Obi-Wan contacts Hondo via hologram. The Weequay pirate chieftain is livid that such Jedi business is once again spilling into his operation. He insists Kenobi help him. Obi-Wan agrees to deal with the Sith, but he cannot help Hondo reclaim his pirates.
-
From the trio of pirate saucers emerge pirate rapier ships that strafe Hondo's compound with laser fire. The rapiers flank the cargo vessel as it touches down. As far as Hondo is concerned, this is war. He rallies his loyal pirates forces to attack the traitors.
-
As the pirates clash, Maul and Savage witness Kenobi's Jedi shuttle land nearby. Maul laments that it is too soon for the Jedi to become involved—his master plan is only just getting started. Maul and Savage ignite their blades, and attack the Jedi. Maul gravitates towards Obi-Wan, while Savage battles Adi.
-
Savage brutally hurls Gallia with a telekinetic push, thrashing her against some wreckage. He then kills the Jedi by savagely goring her with his horns, before impaling her with his lightsaber blade. Obi-Wan cries out in anguish, and is set upon by both Sith brothers.
-
Hondo's loyal pirates are being overrun by the renegades. Hondo calls for a retreat, inviting Obi-Wan with him. Kenobi grabs Adi's fallen lightsaber, and follows Honda as the pirate scurries into the tunnels of his outpost.
-
In the tunnels of the outpost's north passage, Hondo and his loyalists erect a tripod laser cannon to mount an ambush on the renegades. Obi-Wan agrees to draw the Sith brothers away from the pirates, and he orders Hondo and his men to collapse the tunnel behind them. In this way, Kenobi separates the Sith Lords from the pirates. Obi-Wan ignites both lightsabers to do battle with the brothers.
-
Jiro and the renegades turn the corner and run headlong into Hondo's turret cannon. They raise their hands in surrender. Hondo reminds his former pirates that their new Sith allies have no interest in helping them now that they have their Jedi target. Hondo calls on all his pirates to pillage the now undefended cargo vessel used by the Sith.
-
Obi-Wan fights with fierce intensity, holding the brothers at bay. With a swift stroke, he cuts off Savage's left arm. The Sith apprentice collapses in pain. Maul pushes Kenobi away and brings the passageway crumbling down, desperate to defend his apprentice. Maul and his wounded brother retreat.
-
As they emerge from the outpost, Maul and Savage witness the reunified pirates stare at them with greedy grins. At Hondo's command, the pirates open fire on the Zabrak brothers. A blast tears apart Maul's mechanical ankle. The crippled Sith Lord is helped by his maimed apprentice. In a final fit of anger, Maul uses the Force to bring the vacant Jedi shuttle crashing down behind him, using the wreckage as cover.
-
Maul and Savage board their cargo ship and blast off, but they are swatted from the skies by a rocket fired by a pirate. The Sith Lords survive in an escape pod as the cargo ship crashes into the Florrum wasteland. The pirates pick apart the wreckage, looking for treasure. Hondo surmises the Sith Lords to have been vaporized, but Obi-Wan isn't convinced. He knows how tenacious Darth Maul can be.
-
Later on Coruscant, Obi-Wan along with Anakin, Yoda, and Mace Windu meet in Chancellor Palpatine's office. Palpatine believes the Maul matter to be closed, and tells Kenobi to forget about it. The Jedi need concern themselves with the threat of the Separatists, not some madman looking to round up petty crooks in the galactic underworld.
-
But Obi-Wan continues to be wary. He knows Maul is planning something. And with the Jedi preoccupied with the Clone Wars, the crime lords of the galaxy have been allowed to flourish, unchecked. It is a dangerously fertile ground for Maul to exploit.
