Located near a major hyperspace lane, the planet Felucia once again serves as a battlefront in the Clone Wars. Separatist forces land in the dense, colorful jungle. Resisting them are clone troopers led by Master Plo Koon, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano.

Taking advantage of the chaos of battle, a Trandoshan game hunter named Lo-Taren stalks the Felucian underbrush. He sees great value in bagging a Jedi as prey. He fires his electrified net gun at Ahsoka, who has become separated from the rest of her unit. The Padawan falls unconscious.

Ahsoka awakens in the hold of a Trandoshan transport, which lifts off from Felucia. It travels to Wasskah, a Trandoshan moon. The Trandoshan hunters are eager to release the captives into the thorny underbrush of island four, where they can be hunted for sport.

The Trandoshan leader, Garnac, relishes the challenge. He hopes his son, Dar, will perform well on his first hunt and capture a Jedi. Dar swears that the Jedi will die by his blade.

Ahsoka flees into the jungle. There she meets a trio of Jedi youngling fugitives. They have been living in the wild for some time. Kalifa, a young Corellian girl, is their leader. Jinx is a Twi'lek boy, while O-Mer is a Cerean. The younglings take Ahsoka back to their hidden tree-top home.

Kalifa explains that the younglings spend their entire days on the run, avoiding the Trandoshan hunters. When Ahsoka suggests that the younglings fight back, Kalifa rejects her idea as suicide. The younglings have lost all hope.

On Felucia, Anakin is intensely focused on finding Ahsoka. He is worried about her, and orders his troops to double their efforts in finding any trace of the missing Padawan. Master Plo Koon tries to get Anakin to move on to their next assignment, and warns that his emotions are clouding his judgment.

The next day, the Trandoshans begin their hunt. From their hovering hunting lodge high in the sky, they launch heavily armed hover pods with which to prowl the jungles. They open fire on any targets they see hiding in the trees.

Ahsoka wants to help the other captives, but Kalifa stops her, saying it is too late. She tells Ahsoka that they are not saviors here, only survivors. Ahsoka grows impatient with Kalifa's defeated nature. Kalifa tells Ahsoka not to overestimate her abilities, but Ahsoka confidently strides into the jungle.

Ahsoka crosses paths with Lo-Taren, and she uses the Force to defend herself from his attacks. Kalifa follows Ahsoka, and uses the Force to strangle Lo-Taren, but Ahsoka pleads for Kalifa to stop, for the youngling is tapping into the dark side of the Force. The younglings have truly strayed far from the Jedi path.

Ahsoka and the younglings flee to their tree home. Kalifa has been inspired by Ahsoka's energy, focus and spirit. She recalls her Jedi convictions, and agrees to follow Tano as her leader. Ahsoka begins hatching a plan to bring the fight back to their captors. Ahsoka wants the younglings to find the Trandoshan hunting lodge.

In the next day's hunt, Garnac's son Dar leads the charge. It is an important rite of passage for Dar to bag his first kill. The other Trandoshans follow his lead as he guides the hover pods into the thickly entwined underbrush. Unable to penetrate the jungle canopy any further, Dar proceeds on foot.

Kalifa falls into the jungle trying to evade the Trandoshans. Dar wants to kill her with his own hands. He stalks the injured youngling, but Ahsoka comes to her rescue. Ahsoka and Kalifa grapple with Dar, knocking the Trandoshan onto a thick spike that kills him instantly.

Ahsoka and Kalifa believe they are safe, but a blaster shot rings out in the jungle and strikes Kalifa.

Kalifa has been fatally wounded by Garnac, Dar's father, who swears vengeance against the Jedi. As Kalifa lies dying, she asks Ahsoka to watch over the other younglings.

Meanwhile, at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Anakin will not give up his search for Ahsoka. He is obsessed with finding his Padawan. Plo Koon tries to get Anakin to trust in Ahsoka's abilities.
