Divided by war! In an effort to end the galactic conflict, the first ever sanctioned meeting between the Republic and the Separatists will be held and Mandalore is chosen as neutral ground for these precarious meetings. Tensions run high as many hold hope for these important negotiations....
-
In Duchess Satine's throne room, Senator Padmé Amidala leads the Republic delegation in discussions with representatives from the Separatist parliament. Senator Voe Atell of the Confederacy demands the Republic recognize the Confederacy of Independent Systems as a legitimate state. Before Padmé can answer, Lux Bonteri makes a dramatic entrance.
-
All are surprised to see Lux, especially Ahsoka. In an angry voice, Lux accuses Count Dooku with the murder of his mother. The Alliance Senators react with outrage. The Separatist security droids apprehend Lux and drag him away. Protocol dictates that this is strictly a Confederacy affair, and the Republic cannot intervene on Lux's behalf, but Padmé does tell Ahsoka to discreetly follow.
-
Within the hold of a Separatist landing ship, the droids bring Lux before a hologram of Count Dooku. Dooku is hardly impressed with Lux's bravery. He coldly orders the droids to execute him. As Dooku transmits his signal, Lux surreptitiously adjusts a device attached to his wrist.
-
Before the security droids can execute Lux, Ahsoka suddenly storms the hold. She is unarmed, as per Mandalorian law, but she uses the Force to push the droids away. Ahsoka takes Lux's hand, and they are off running.
-
Pursued by commando droids, the young fugitives race aboard a docked Republic vessel, the Phoenix. Senate guards hold off the droids while Ahsoka starts up the ship and blasts off into the skies. The peace negotiations have collapsed, and Ahsoka races towards Coruscant in hopes of granting Lux amnesty.
-
Lux refuses the Republic's help. He pulls a blaster on Ahsoka, insisting he has a plan of his own. He has made contact with a group on Carlac that will help him seek vengeance on Dooku. Lux zaps Ahsoka unconscious, and takes control of the Phoenix.
-
Ahsoka awakens aboard the Phoenix, her weapons missing. Through the viewport, she sees Lux standing outside in the snows of Carlac. Ahsoka tasks R2-D2 to find her weapons while she storms outside to talk with Bonteri.
-
Before Ahsoka can have many words with Lux, her voice is drowned out by the roar of rocket packs. A squad of Death Watch soldiers, led by Bo-Katan, surround Lux and Ahsoka. Much to Ahsoka's surprise, Lux is in league with Death Watch. She plays along, pretending to be Bonteri's betrothed. R2-D2 emerges from the Phoenix, lightsabers stashed in his storage compartments, just in time to be herded into a speeder by the Mandalorians.
-
The speeder brings the newcomers to a Death Watch camp. The once strictly regimented military might of the Mandalorians now appears as little more than lawless, ruthless outlaws. A gang of Mandalorians cruelly blast apart captured droids for their own amusement. Bo-Katan brings Lux, Ahsoka and Artoo to the main tent in the camp.
-
Lux's wrist gadget is a holotrace device, which can pinpoint the source of any holographic transmission. He has used it to zero in on Dooku's whereabouts, a location he plans to turn over to Death Watch so they can assassinate the Separatist leader. Ahsoka warns Lux not to trust the murderous mercenaries. To silence her objections as the Mandalorians enter the tent, Lux impulsively kisses Ahsoka.
-
The Mandalorian leader, Pre Vizsla, confronts Lux. He excuses Ahsoka, and demands Dooku's location. The unkempt Vizsla wants to destroy the Separatist leader, paying him back for abandoning the Death Watch on the eve of their takeover of Mandalore. Lux hands over the holotrace device to Vizsla.
-
The Mandalorians shove R2-D2 into a tent converted into a droid storage area. The mercs order the little astromech to repair the battle damaged combat droids, so they can be blasted again.
-
Bo-Katan pushes Ahsoka into a tent filled with Ming Po women captured from a nearby village. Alone among them, Tryla shows enough bravery to greet the newcomer. She warns Ahsoka not to push too hard against the Mandalorians. A Death Watch soldier enters and demands the servants prepare a feast for the warriors.
-
Inside the main tent, Chieftain Pieter of the Ming Po tribe confronts Vizsla, demanding a return of his people and an immediate departure by the Mandalorians. Surprisingly, Vizsla agrees to Pieter's demands. He promises the Mandalorians will be gone by sunrise tomorrow, and the captives returned. Lux sees this as a mark of honor among the Death Watch, but Ahsoka is not convinced.
-
The next day in the Carlac village, the Mandalorians gather before Chieftain Pieter. Pre Vizsla, in a display of power and contempt, coldly shoots Tryla through the back right before her grandfather's eyes. Vizsla orders the enter village torched to the ground. Lux is stunned as Vizsla chuckles, welcoming him to Death Watch.
-
Ahsoka can stand no more. Although she is unarmed, she kicks several Death Watch troopers to the ground. The Death Watch soldiers gang up on her, wrapping her limbs in their cables and rendering her helpless. Pre Vizsla orders Ahsoka dragged back to camp. He needs to discuss matters of loyalty with Lux Bonteri first.
-
Lux realizes that Ahsoka was right all along -- these Mandalorians are nothing but cruel murderers. Vizsla laughs at Lux's hypocrisy; after all, it was Lux's desire for murder that brought him to Death Watch in the first place. Vizsla sees the death of any Jedi as the delivery of justice. He ignites his darksaber, ready to kill Ahsoka.
-
Suddenly R2-D2 noisily rolls into the tent, distracting the Mandalorians with all his extended tools and gadgets. He cuts Ahsoka's bonds and returns her lightsabers. Ahsoka ignites them and duels with Vizsla, clashing her lightsabers against his black blade. As the fight spills outside, the Mandalorians find themselves attacked by refurbished battle droids repaired by R2-D2.
-
Ahsoka cuts through Vizsla's rocket pack, causing it to violently explode. She, Artoo and Lux flee aboard a landspeeder, but Bo-Katan and two other Mandalorian warriors give chase. Katan and Ahsoka brawl atop the speeder, but the young Padawan is able to kick the agile warrior off the vehicle.
-
The speeder arrives at the Phoenix and the ship leaves Carlac, bound for Coruscant. But rather than return to the capital, Lux boards the ship's escape pod. He is determined to follow his own path, even if it means leaving Ahsoka behind. She tries to convince him otherwise, and he admits that they make a good team. He assures Ahsoka that they will meet again before blasting off to find his own destiny.
