The design of the Supervisor pays homage to two film classics: War of the Worlds themes and The Wizard of Oz. Its headshape was also inspired by another famous Star Wars droid's dome - R2-D2.

The hoverbikes making the jump over the canyon is a nod to the bike chase sequence in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

This is a rare live-action battle scene showing classic B-wing starfighters. Their concentrated laser cannon-fire is based on the design revealed first in animation in Star Wars Rebels.
