When Qui-Gon Jinn sought refuge on Tatooine after the invasion of Naboo, his fellow Jedi Quinlan Vos was there on a covert assignment.
-
After the bounty hunter Cad Bane freed Ziro the Hutt from Republic captivity, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Vos were sent to apprehend both hunter and Hutt. Obi-Wan found Vos’s brash ways wearying, though he respected the other Jedi: Despite his maverick ways, Vos had trained the highly capable Twi’lek Jedi Aayla Secura.
-
On Nal Hutta, Vos questioned the Hutts harshly about the role they might have played in Ziro’s escape. While Obi-Wan hastily made peace, Vos used his ability to read objects to determine that Ziro had escaped. The Jedi soon discovered he’d had help.
-
Vos and Obi-Wan pursued Ziro through the swamps of Nal Hutta. Obi-Wan was puzzled why Ziro would remain on Nal Hutta, but Vos sensed something was keeping him on the planet.
-
Vos was an expert tracker, and trailed their quarry to the home of Ziro’s mother. Vos slashed the door open with a lightsaber – to Obi-Wan’s dismay. Mama the Hutt told the two Jedi that Ziro was headed for Teth in a starship he’d borrowed.
-
Vos and Obi-Wan hurried to Teth, only to find Ziro had been killed and his valuable holo-diary was missing. The two faced off with Cad Bane, whom they tried to take into custody.
-
Bane proved a tough opponent, outmaneuvering both Obi-Wan and Vos with help from his droid, Todo 360. Despite the Jedi’s best efforts, the bounty hunter escaped and the two Jedi returned to Coruscant empty-handed.
-
Amid mounting civilian casualties, the Jedi Council reluctantly decided to assassinate Count Dooku. The Jedi enlisted Vos, who went undercover and sought out Dooku’s former apprentice, the bounty hunter Asajj Ventress. He tracked Ventress down on Pantora, posing as a fellow hunter, and gradually won her affection. She reluctantly agreed to take him on as partner.
-
The two worked well together, and bonded on a mission to rescue the family of a Pyke Syndicate crime lord from a Black Sun stronghold on Mustafar. Vos revealed his true identity to Ventress, and the two became lovers.
-
Ventress told Vos that he could only defeat Dooku by learning the ways of the dark side. Vos was reluctant, but Ventress convinced him he could learn how to channel the dark side’s power without being consumed by it. On Ventress’s homeworld of Dathomir, Vos underwent Nightsister rituals and killed an ancient creature known as the Sleeper. This evil act opened him to the powers of the dark side.
-
Vos and Ventress ambushed Dooku on Raxus, but the Separatist leader separated them and captured Vos, subjecting him to torture on Serenno.
-
Ventress hired a crew of bounty hunters to rescue Vos, but to her horror Vos opted to remain with Dooku. Reports began to circulate through the Republic about Admiral Enigma, a new Separatist warlord. Recognizing Enigma as Vos, Ventress appealed to Anakin and Obi-Wan for help.
-
The three freed Vos, but the Jedi suspected he was still secretly Dooku’s servant. Vos reconciled with Ventress, and the two confronted Dooku again. Vos convinced Ventress to say behind and defeated Dooku using his dark-side powers. He then demanded to be brought before Darth Sidious, hoping to capture both Sith.
-
The Jedi captured Vos and Dooku, but they escaped and were rescued by Ventress, who was horrified to find her former master accompanying the man she’d grown to love. On Christophsis, Dooku attacked Vos, but Ventress saved him and was mortally wounded by Force lightning. An enraged Vos defeated Dooku, but refused to give into the dark side and strike down the count. Grievous rescued Dooku, but Vos had redeemed himself.
-
Vos brought Ventress’s body to Dathomir, to lay alongside the Nightsisters. He then returned to Jedi service, leading troops until the final days of the Clone Wars.
