The Rebel Alliance stood bravely against the evil of the Galactic Empire, never backing down despite overwhelming odds. Formed from resistance movements that arose during the Clone Wars, the Rebellion worked in secret for decades to overthrow the Emperor and restore democracy to the galaxy. Eventually, armed with the firepower of ships like the X-wing and A-wing, and the leadership of figures including Princess Leia and Admiral Ackbar, the Rebel Alliance triumphed over the Empire at the Battle of Endor.

The uppermost ranks of the Rebel Alliance are known as High Command, and include both military officers and a cabinet of senators who serve as ministers. As Alliance chief of state, Mon Mothma sits at the pinnacle of High Command, but encourages open discussion and even debate among her military and civilian advisors.

At the height of its rule, the Galactic Republic was governed by a body of Senators representing the many worlds of the galaxy. Within the cavernous Senate rotunda, hundreds of politicians would fill the viewing platforms that lined the curved walls. The Senate’s power gradually eroded after it voted emergency powers to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine during the Clone Wars, and the body was sharply divided between supporters of the war and those seeking peace. After Palpatine declared himself Emperor, power was increasingly wielded by regional governors. Shortly before the Battle of Yavin, Palpatine disbanded the Senate.

From working in secret as one of the founders of the Rebel Alliance to openly leading the New Republic as the first elected Chancellor in two decades, Mon Mothma of Chandrila has built a career out of carefully navigating the dangerous shadows of Coruscant politics in her efforts to restore democracy. Once a leader of the Galactic Senate's Loyalist faction, as a senator Mon Mothma opposed Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's policies during the final days of the Republic. After the rise of the Empire, Mothma continued to serve her constituents on Coruscant while working on her ultimate goal: the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

Nower Jebel speaks for the agricultural world of Uyter, and secretly serves as the Rebel Alliance’s Minister of Finance. Despite the Empire’s depredations, Jebel continues to believe in the Senate and the possibility of a negotiated settlement between the Emperor and his political foes. Senator Jebel finds the idea of open warfare appalling and is determined to avoid another galaxy-spanning conflict.

A senator from the ancient world of Taris, Tynnra Pamlo serves as the Alliance’s Minister of Education. She works closely with Alliance Intelligence, and has seen evidence of Imperial atrocities on far too many worlds. While a determined opponent of Emperor Palpatine, Senator Pamlo is reluctant to expose her homeworld and people to Imperial reprisals.
