Ventress was born on Dathomir, but her Nightsister clan was forced to give her up, handing her over to a pirate named Hal'Sted. After he was killed on Rattatak, a Jedi Knight named Ky Narec rescued Ventress.
-
Narec trained Ventress in the ways of the Force, but when he was killed, she was consumed with fury and desire for revenge -- raw emotions that led her to the dark side. She became the apprentice of Count Dooku and one of his most valuable servants.
-
On Christophsis, Ventress dueled Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi she longed to defeat to prove her worth to Dooku and his master, the shadowy Darth Sidious.
-
The Christophsis duel was a trick of Ventress's, meant to keep the two Jedi distracted while the Separatists' agent Sergeant Slick destroyed valuable stores and weapons crucial to the Republic defense of Christophsis.
-
Ventress ordered Whorm Loathsom's troops to march on the city, and headed for Tatooine in a Trident ship. Her mission was to kidnap Jabba the Hutt's son Rotta, which Dooku planned to blame on the Republic, pushing the Hutts into the war on the Separatist side.
-
Ventress took Rotta to an abandoned monastery on Teth and waited for the Republic attack.
-
On Teth, she dueled Anakin and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano -- who fought bravely but found herself no match for the dark-side acolyte.
-
Ventress and a droid recorded Anakin and Ahsoka with Rotta, editing the images to make it appear like the two were abusing the helpless little Hutt. Dooku then played this hologram for Jabba, who reacted with fury.
-
Ventress soon found herself battling her old rival Obi-Wan Kenobi, the flash of their lightsabers accompanied by Obi-Wan's ceaseless banter.
-
While the two dueled, both felt a tremor in the Force -- Anakin had jumped to hyperspace with Rotta, taking him back to Jabba on Tatooine. Dooku's plot would soon fail.
-
On the moon of Rugosa, Ventress interrupted a planned meeting between Yoda and Toydaria's King Katuunko, who was neutral in the war. She proposed a wager: Let Yoda prove the Jedi could protect Toydaria by defeating Ventress's troops.
-
When Yoda and his clones defeated Ventress' forces, Dooku ordered her to kill Katuunko. But her killing stroke never landed -- Yoda had arrived, and held her motionless with the Force.
-
Ventress escaped, and soon took on the dangerous mission of freeing the captive Nute Gunray from a Jedi cruiser taking him to Coruscant as a prisoner.
-
Aboard the cruiser, she dueled Luminara Unduli, who underestimated Ventress and was nearly overwhelmed by her savage fury.
-
Ahsoka rescued Luminara and both fought Asajj, who escaped along with Gunray and the traitorous Senate Guard Argyus, who had helped rescue the Neimoidian.
-
Argyus was pleased with himself, but Ventress wasn't inclined to share credit -- or help a rival. She ran Argyus through with her sabers.
-
In a key campaign of the war, Ventress infiltrated Kamino -- the main production center for clone troopers -- with Trident ships. Her target was the clone DNA banks.
-
Ventress and General Grievous were both put in charge of the raid -- to their mutual displeasure.
-
Ventress made her way to the clone lab, but was intercepted there by an old foe -- Anakin Skywalker.
-
Anakin and Ventress dueled across Tipoca City, but she was outnumbered by clone troopers and lost the DNA data she had been charged with obtaining.
-
But she evaded capture, escaping with Grievous to fight another day.
-
At the Battle of Sullust, Ventress led the attack on the Republic forces in her fanblade starfighter. She had no idea that her life was about to change -- and her list of enemies was about to grow longer.
-
Obeying orders from Darth Sidious, Dooku abandoned Ventress, going so far as to order his own forces to open fire on a Separatist warship after she crashed her fighter into its hangar.
-
Aboard the warship, Ventress had to fight Anakin and Obi-Wan as well. She was nearly beaten, and only escaped by summoning up every bit of her fury as fuel for her dark-side powers.
-
Her fighter was found by scavengers, whom she killed, piloting their ship to Dathomir.
-
There, she was taken in by the Nightsisters, and wove a plot with Mother Talzin to get revenge on Count Dooku.
-
After Ventress and two other Nightsisters failed to assassinate Dooku themselves, she and Talzin decided to find a new dark-side acolyte for Dooku -- one who would be secretly loyal to the Nightsisters. On Dathomir, Ventress tested a village of Nightbrothers, choosing the warrior Savage Opress.
-
Trained in the Force and strengthened through Nightsister sorcery, Opress became Dooku's servant -- until Ventress appeared and joined forces with him against her former master.
-
But Dooku proved too strong for even their combined efforts -- and Savage finally snapped under the strain of his abusive training, turning his fury on both Dooku and Ventress.
-
Ventress escaped again, ejecting from Dooku's ship in an escape pod -- and facing an uncertain future.
-
Her revenge plots failed and her days with the Sith over, Ventress became a bounty hunter. In one of her first jobs, she teamed with a young Boba Fett and his crew in escorting a captive girl for payment. Ventress sympathized with the girl, and instead betrayed Fett while returning the girl to her people.
-
When Ahsoka Tano was framed for murder and on the run, Asajj was the first to successfully track the Jedi. While they had fought many times, Ventress believed Ahsoka’s story, and formed an alliance with her former enemy.
-
Various clues led Anakin Skywalker to a confrontation with Ventress, as he believed it was she who framed his Padawan. Asajj convinced Anakin that she had nothing to do with it and led Anakin to the true culprit: Barriss Offee.
-
Ventress’s Force skills made her a skilled bounty hunter, though she became notorious for her insistence on working alone. On Pantora, Ventress found herself with a partner, however – a tattooed human hunter who insisted on helping her. Ventress reluctantly had to admit that this Vos was skilled – and despite her resistance, she found him charming.
-
Ventress and Vos worked well together, and bonded on a mission to rescue the family of a Pyke Syndicate crime lord from a Black Sun stronghold on Mustafar. After that mission, Vos revealed what Ventress had already known – he’d been trained as a Jedi. What she didn’t know was that Quinlan Vos had been sent by the Jedi Council to assassinate Count Dooku.
-
Ventress wanted to see Dooku dead, but told Vos he could only defeat the count by learning the ways of the dark side. Vos was reluctant, but Ventress convinced him he could learn how to channel the dark side’s power without being consumed by it. On Ventress’s homeworld of Dathomir, Vos underwent Nightsister rituals and opened himself to the powers of the dark side. He and Asajj also became lovers, and she found herself coping with feelings she’d thought she’d purged from herself: love, compassion and selflessness.
-
Ventress and Vos ambushed Dooku on Raxus, but the Separatist leader separated them and captured Vos, subjecting him to torture on Serenno. Using the credits she’d saved as a hunter, Ventress hired Boba Fett and his crew of mercenaries to help her rescue Vos, but to her horror Vos opted to remain with Dooku. Despondent, Ventress appealed to Anakin and Obi-Wan for help.
-
The three freed Vos, who reconciled with Ventress. She and Vos confronted Dooku again, but Quinlan convinced Ventress to say behind and both he and Dooku were captured by the Jedi. Ventress rescued the man she’d grown to love, but was horrified to find Dooku accompanying Vos.
-
Vos assured a reluctant Asajj that this was part of his plan. The three crashed on Christophsis and were attacked by Republic forces, where all were injured. When Dooku attacked Vos with Force lightning, Ventress shoved Quinlan out of the way and took the brunt of the attack. Vos defeated Dooku, but refused to give into the dark side and strike down the count. Asajj was mortally wounded, and died in Quinlan’s arms, grateful that her love had found his way back to the light. She was then laid to rest on Dathomir, alongside her sisters.
