Poor Mace. He's got all the Jedi cred in the galaxy -- purple starfighter and gold-on-chrome lightsaber, not to mention one bad attitude -- but the guy just doesn't get the shelf-space that Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Yoda get from collectors. It's understandable, of course -- those guys have been with us since the beginning (well, Yoda premiered with Episode V), and, well, Mace is still something of a newcomer around the Star Wars saga. We thought tonight's episode of The Clone Wars warranted a re-introduction of sorts for Mace, in a way a lot of fans can relate to -- with toys!
Not just toys. Mace has actually managed to infiltrate the Star Wars product roster pretty thoroughly, with scores of toys, books, posters and other items all bearing his image. We've served up a few of our favorite pieces here to remind fans that Mace isn't just the king of cool when it comes to Jedi Masters -- he's also a pretty cool collectible!
Pocket Mace
Naturally any discussion of toys is going to start with action figures. Mace has been with us since the start of the prequel trilogy, lest you forget his was the "sneak preview" figure launching the Episode I series (the packaging even bore the pre-Episode I "Power of the Force" design). Mace has come a long way since the tame and tactful Jedi of Episode I (whose figure carried a blue lightsaber!), and we have to give Hasbro credit for keeping the plain-dressed character fresh with each new iteration. Hasbro also made a 12-inch version of Mace as well (upper right).
