In the spirit of all-things-retro these last couple weeks (did you see our "Star Wars Buzz" series and the Howard Chaykin 1976 artwork print?), StarWarsShop posted another unique piece today that many old-school fans might appreciate: a signed Mark Hamill photo from one of the earliest publicity shoots for A New Hope back in 1976!
The photo of Luke Skywalker being offered by StarWarsShop today depicts actor Mark Hamill in a costume most fans are not immediately familiar with. If you look closely, though, you may recognize the tunic and pants as those seen in the closing ceremony scene from A New Hope, where Luke walks down the aisle in a yellow jacket to receive his medal.
This photo was rarely used back when the movie was released in 1977, probably because the white tunic Tatooine costume is how most of the public recognized the character of Luke Skywalker. This earlier look, though, depicts a nice foreshadowing of Luke's look in Return of the Jedi.
This exclusive photo, which is signed by actor Mark Hamill and measures 8x10 inches, comes from an edition of just 40 (!!) and includes an Official Pix seal. This is a StarWarsShop exclusive and won't last long, so head on over now!
