For those who like to plan ahead, here's a look at what's in the works from LucasBooks and Del Rey, but please keep in mind that "always in motion is the future," and dates, formats and titles are all subject to change.
2009
The Fate of the Jedi series begins with Aaron Allston's Outcast, the first book in the new nine-book arc that begins two years after the events of the Legacy of the Force series. It is slated for hardcover release in April.
Also that spring, Elaine Cunningham (The New Jedi Order: Dark Journey) returns to the Star Wars galaxy with Blood Oath, a standalone paperback featuring Zekk that is set soon after the events of the Legacy of the Force series.
Summer brings the second installment of Fate of the Jedi -- Enigma by Christie Golden. Karen Traviss returns with the third novel in The Clone Wars series, No Prisoners, as well as the start of a new paperback series: Imperial Commando. The first book will be Star Wars: Imperial Commando: 501st.
In the fall, Troy Denning continues Fate of the Jedi with the third book (as yet untitled), while the winter months bring a new standalone Star Wars novel by Joe Schreiber, and a non-fiction guide to everything Darth Vader published by Becker & Mayer. Also out by year's end, the fourth novel in The Clone Wars series, this one by Karen Miller.
The paperback releases of the hardcover books Invincible, by Troy Denning, The Force Unleashed, by Sean Williams and Millennium Falcon, by James Luceno are due in 2009.
2010
The year starts off with the third installment in the popular Darth Bane series of Old Republic novels by Drew Karpyshyn in hardcover, while Aaron Allston delivers the fourth hardcover book in Fate of the Jedi. Author Paul Kemp contributes to the Star Wars universe for the first time with a standalone paperback novel.
That spring, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, Del Rey and author J.W. Rinzler gives the lavish "behind-the-scenes" treatment to Episode V with The Making of The Empire Strikes Back. Also, Christie Golden writes the fifth book in Fate of the Jedi.
In the summer, Karen Traviss continues the paperback Imperial Commando series, while Karen Miller finishes off the fifth Clone Wars novel. Troy Denning writes the sixth book of Fate of the Jedi.
Fall is the perfect time to cozy up to some Star Wars crafts and activities with a new nonfiction book by Bonnie Burton. Also, author Alex Irvine has a standalone hardcover novel set in the time of the ancient Jedi Knights.
By year's end, Aaron Allston delivers the seventh book of the Fate of the Jedi series in hardcover. The year 2010 also sees the paperback releases of the previous year's hardcover books.
2011
By this point, we're really stretching into the future, and dates and titles become even more tentative. Fate of the Jedi concludes with book eight by Christie Golden and book nine by Troy Denning. Karen Traviss is slated to write a Boba Fett original paperback novel, while Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff team up to write a new original paperback novel. On the nonfiction side, several Essential Guides are also slated for 2011, but their exact nature has yet to be determined.
