Draw Watto

Ever wanted to draw Star Wars characters and vehicles just like the professional comic book artists? Star Wars illustrator Grant Gould explains with these easy-to-follow steps how to draw Watto. Steps 1-5 are drawn lightly with pencil. No pen, no dark lines. Finished lines and details will come at the end.

Drawing pencil
Colored pencils

STEP ONE

Draw lightly with a pencil, start with a tilted "Y" shape with a circle to represent Watto's head.

STEP TWO

Now create a basic framework using simple shapes.

STEP THREE

Flesh out Watto's body shape, limbs, head and wings.

STEP FOUR

Now focus on his head and draw the snout, eyes, teeth, etc.

STEP FIVE

Finally illustrate Watto's clothing and equipment. He has lots of pouches and belts. You can also have him holding a chance cube.

STEP SIX

You should have a fairly detailed pencil drawing. Once you're satisfied with your Toydarian masterpiece, you can go over your lines with pen or marker, or heavier pencil lines.
