Artoo-Potatoo includes 1 potato body, 1 top dome with eyes, 2 legs, 1 front panel, 1 robot arm, 1 silly face, and instead of feet he has a wheel in his base. Artoo-Potatoo also comes with the Princess Tater "hologram" -- a plastic mini-figure of the Princess Leia hologram that was projected for Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope.
"Artoo-Potatoo is modeled after his heroic droid counterpart," Suzanne Schneider, Marketing Director Playskool , explains. "This feisty droid often finds himself in hot water, but always manages to save everyone's skin. Now, Artoo must help Princess Tater with an urgent mission: deliver the Death Spud plans to her friends in the Rebellion!"
With the dark side of the Force always looming around Darth Tater and SpudTrooper, some fans may wonder how Artoo-Potatoo plans on protecting himself against the Sith spuds. "By using Potato Ingenuity, of course!" Schneider says. "With his trusty wheel, he can zip away faster than the speed of a lightsaber to successfully deliver Princess Tater's urgent message!"
Speaking of messages, if the real R2-D2 beeps to communicate, one has to wonder how Artoo-Potatoo gets his message across. "He uses his 'appeal' naturally!" Schneider smiles.
His appeal might not work, however, on R2-D2's droid sidekick C-3PO. When asked what Goldenrod might say to Artoo-Potatoo, Schneider offers some possible comments. "The first thing C-3PO might say could be 'Artoo, what have you done to yourself this time?!!'" Schneider says. "Or Artoo, you're au-gratin on my nerves!"
