Ever wanted to draw Star Wars characters and vehicles just like the professional comic book artists? In this step-by-step series, Star Wars artists and illustrators show you how to draw some of the most beloved characters in the saga.
Star Wars illustrator Cynthia Narcisi explains with these easy-to-follow steps on how to draw the bounty hunter Robonino from The Clone Wars animated TV series.

Step One:
To begin drawing this portrait of Robonino, start with the basic shape of his head and lightly sketch in a line where the eyes and mouth will go. When drawing a portrait, always be sure to include shoulders too!

Step Two:
Loosely sketch his eye and one very large eye patch! He also needs fins. Draw these large shapes first and then add details to them as you go. Remember to draw lightly to make it easy to erase lines you don't want. Whenever you draw, whether it's a quick sketch or a preliminary study, always use light pressure.

Step Three:
Continue to define the contours of the shapes you've drawn so far. You can also draw his eye and mouth. What expression do you want your sketch to have? I encourage you to try drawing try drawing him with various expressions. Check out this illustration of expressions to see what Robonino looks like angry, surprised, annoyed, worried and pleased.

Step Four:
You can add more detail to your sketch and you're ready to color it. Here are some suggestions for coloring.
- Watercolor on illustration board: Transfer your sketch using carbon paper.
- Marker on Bristol Vellum or Bristol Smooth: Use a light box to trace your sketch onto the paper.
- Collage: Try to cut or tear pieces of colored paper to match the shapes you've drawn, then paste them to a piece of Bristol paper. Use paints, pens, marker, colored pencil or anything you want to add detail to your collage.
- Digital: Scan your art and color it with Photoshop or try creating a vector image in Illustrator.
- Pencil: Finish your sketch with colored pencil. Use a paper that has tooth, such as Bristol Vellum.
- Mix it up!: Have fun with a combination of these materials.
Have fun with your sketch! May the Force be with you!
