In honor of the Star Wars Super Deformed toys that celebrate the Japanese caricature style in which the character has a huge head and a tiny body, here's a simple craft to make your own plushy versions. This handy craft also helps you recycle old Star Wars T-shirts with characters on them or scraps of Star Wars fabric you have taking up space.

Materials to Use:

Instructions:

1. First cut out the heads of whatever character you want to make a doll from. If you have Yoda fabric, or an old T-shirt with Darth Vader or a clone trooper use that. Make sure you cut another piece out of either the T-shirt material or felt for the back of your doll's head as well.

2. Have an adult sew around the head using a simple stitch. Leave a hole in the head so you can stuff it with napkins or pillow filler. Fill and sew the head closed.

3. To make the doll's body, use the Yoda doll pattern. Cut out in felt two pieces of the body (front and back) that you will sew together using a simple stitch. Pick a fabric that matches the head -- black for Vader, green for Yoda and so on.

If making a clone trooper, use pieces of white felt (or other scrap fabric) for the armor that you will then sew onto the body which can be in a darker color. If making Yoda, sew his robe onto his body using the instructions here.

4. Sew the felt together by hand using a simple stitch. Make sure to allow two spaces for stuffing the doll at the top and at the bottom. Gently stuff the body using tissues or pillow stuffing (like you did with the head). Use an unsharpened pencil to help move the stuffing into the harder-to-reach places of the doll. When the body is full, sew the openings shut.

5. Now sew the head onto the body by hand. And now you have a super-silly big-headed Star Wars doll to add to your toy collection!

Other Crafty Ideas:
* Glue magnets to the back of the doll and stick him to your fridge or locker.

* Fill your doll full of catnip and give to your cat as a special toy.

* Instead of stuffing, fill the doll with candy and give to a friend.

* Fill your doll with dried rice and lavender and use as a nice-smelling sachet.
