Race Different - Racer for the Mac

December 8, 1999
Following the critical and commercial success of Star Wars: Episode I Racer for the PC and the Nintendo 64, LucasArts Entertainment Company has brought the game to the Macintosh platform. Star Wars: Racer allows players to take control of the blindingly fast, jet-propelled Podracers featured in the Boonta Eve Classic race in Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace.

Despite the detailed replication of exciting movie sequences and simulated speeds of up to 600 miles per hour, the Macintosh version of Racer will run on the popular iMac and iBook product lines without requiring additional 3D upgrades.

"The Mac platform offers a tremendous opportunity for developers, and we're thrilled that LucasArts is bringing their cool products to the Mac," says Tony Lee, senior director of Worldwide Markets for Apple. "With Apple hardware such as iMac and Power Macintosh G4 optimized for gaming, we strongly believe our game-hungry customers will turn out in force to own a copy of Star Wars: Episode I Racer."
