The first release of the new trading card game, Champions of the Force, has a lot of familiar components for those who have experienced TCGs before -- booster packs, randomized play, card rarity. By being set in the virtual Star Wars Galaxies massively-multiplayer online game, however, these cards do something no tabletop cardboard game could: they transform into virtual goods that your players can use within Star Wars Galaxies.
Randomly inserted into booster packs are "Loot Cards", which can be redeemed in the Star Wars Galaxies MMO for vehicles, weapons, goods, and collectibles for your virtual Star Wars Galaxies avatar to use in the game. Here's a sampling of some of the cards, and why you should seek them out.
For Those with the Need for Speed: With several planets to explore, Star Wars Galaxies players often need a quick ride to get around. The Sith Speeder card turns into the crescent-shaped pared down bike like the type preferred by Darth Maul. If that's not fast enough, then turn an Ord Pedrovia card into a custom Podracer speed machine like the green vehicle used by Gasgano.
For those Looking to Get Noticed: A purely cosmetic addition is the Guise of the Apprentice and Guise of the Sith. Want to stand out in a crowd? Glowing eyes will definitely do the trick.
For Those interested in Home Improvement: Looking to spruce up your virtual domicile, but can't quite find that piece of décor that ties the room together? Try out the Jedi Crest, or a Clone Trooper painting.
For the clotheshorse: For those just starting out in Champions of the Force, there are two complimentary Loot Cards: a Rebel life support flight suit and an Imperial one. These outfits make your Star Wars Galaxies character look the part right away, but you need to leave the comforts of the starting space station to activate them. So make sure you're ready for your first step into a larger world.
