Not much older than the young cadets herself, Ahsoka Tano is asked by Senator Amidala to teach a class on corruption at the Academy on Mandalore. Her students prove more resourceful than she had anticipated, though, when they uncover a conspiracy reaching up to the planet's highest levels of power.
As a fair leader of her people, Satine would like to believe Mandalore's politicians have not fallen victim to widespread corruption. But when her nephew Korkie has proof that the planet's alleged food shortage has been orchestrated by some for profit, she must confront the cruel truth that Mandalore's government has begun to corrode from within.
As the nephew of Duchess Satine, Korkie has immediate access to powerful leaders on Mandalore, including Prime Minister Almec. When he and his fellow cadets uncover a mysterious warehouse meeting exposing the planet's food supply shortage as a ruse, he uses his connections to report the corruption to his Aunt Satine and Prime Minister Almec.
Prime Minister Almec is initially trusted by Korkie and his fellow cadets to act on information gathered from their secret investigation of the alleged Mandalore food shortage. To the cadets' surprise, Almec turns out to be at the center of the conspiracy, a corrupt politician hoping to create a black market of humanitarian supplies for Mandalore.
Because the Clone Wars have blocked vital trade routes to the neutral planet of Mandalore, corrupt and greedy opportunist at the highest levels of government have sought to take advantage of the supply shortages for personal and political gain.
