Description
The marriage of repulsorlift technology and heavy armor has resulted in formidable floating tanks known as AATs. These assault tanks form the frontline of Trade Federation armored infantry divisions, as well as Separatist forces during the Clone Wars . A crew of battle droids drives the battle tank and operates the array of laser and projectile weaponry carried by the vehicle.

AATs are typically piloted by battle droids often emblazoned with specific livery identifying them as tank commanders. Organic battlefield generals, like Whorm Loathsom or Lok Durd, select an AAT to serve as their command vehicle during extended ground campaigns.
Trade Federation
The Trade Federation maintained its own standing military at a time when the galaxy was ostensibly at peace, citing the need to protect its valuable shipments. The Trade Federation used AATs during their siege of Naboo.
Separatist Alliance
When the Clone Wars erupted, many corporate armies joined the cause through treaties, defections, or lucrative partnership contracts. Trade Federation fighting forces formed the backbone of the Separatist military, though the organization cynically claimed neutrality in the conflict, as that was the most profitable stance.
STAP
STAPs often work in tandem with heavier vehicles such as the AAT battle tank, defending the flanks of the slower armored vehicles and skimming ahead as an advance patrol.
DDT tank
Using a standard AAT as a starting point, the modified DDT tank replaces the primary laser cannon turret with a specialized shell launcher that fires Defoliator capsules.
