A moon used by the Mandalorian Death Watch as a temporary base during the Clone War, Zanbar is marked by stretches of swampy vegetation pierced by towering plateaus of striated rock. Death Watch settled a camp here sometime after abandoning a similar base on Carlac. It was on Zanbar that the Shadow Collective masterminded by Darth Maul began to take shape, and representatives from the Pykes and Black Sun convened here to plot their underhanded takeover of Mandalore.
Death Watch is what remains of the Mandalorian warrior heritage, a group exiled from their homeworld for their bellicose ways. For a time, Death Watch existed secretly on the moon of Concordia, before a botched takeover attempt backed by the Separatists led to their fleeing far beyond Mandalore.
Pre Vizsla is the leader of the Death Watch. He longs to return the warrior tradition to his people and depose the current Mandalorian leader, Duchess Satine. Since his exile from the Mandalore system, Vizsla and his followers have led a nomadic existence.
Bo-Katan is Pre Vizsla's sergeant-at-arms. She leads a cadre of elite Death Watch warriors known as the Nite Owls.
After finding Darth Maul adrift in a frozen escape pod, Death Watch brought the fallen Sith warrior back to their camp on Zanbar, where they revived him and rebuilt his broken body with new mechanical legs.
Death Watch also brought Maul's brother, Savage Opress, to the Zanbar camp. They rehabilitated the brutish warrior and replaced his severed arm with a mechanical one.
