Known also as the Junk World, Lotho Minor is one of the galaxy's dumping grounds. The surface of the planet is covered with refuse, piled over countless generations so that enormous heaps of trash stand as tall as mountains. As the ancient maxim goes, one being's refuse is another's treasure: salvage operations dig through the planet-wide junkyard, looking to reclaim and recondition reusable or obsolete machinery. The gutted and rotting hulls of ancient starships poke through the more recent garbage, giving the landscape the eerie feel of an industrial graveyard. Huge pools of toxic sludge and the periodic bursts of acid rain make the ruined ecosystem one of the most dangerous in the galaxy. The planet's atmosphere is hot and caustic and foul-smelling fog limits visibility.
For over a decade after the Battle of Naboo, Maul lived in hiding in the depths of Lotho Minor. Maul's mind was shattered by his defeat. His driving desire to cling to life caused Maul to rebuild himself as an arachnid abomination, who scurried about in madness within the garbage caves of the rotten planet.
Savage Opress was tasked by Mother Talzin of the Nightsisters to find his long lost brother. A mystical talisman pointed him in the direction of Lotho Minor.
Opress used a Turtle Tanker to search the garbage planet. Once he determined his brother's approximate whereabouts, Opress tossed the hapless pilot overboard and landed the ship amid the endless junk piles.
The Junkers are apparently the native inhabitants of Lotho Minor. Mysterious denizens, they appear to be a hybrid of living matter and discarded technology.
The fire-breathers are enormous, monster-like scavenger droids that awkwardly clamber across the shifting piles of detritus in their mindless quest to constantly feed a bottomless appetite for junk.
