Jabba the Hutt's Uncle Ziro conspired with Count Dooku to kidnap Jabba's son Rotta, reasoning that when the Jedi sent to retrieve Rotta died, the Republic would be forced to apprehend Jabba, leading to Ziro gaining control of their clan.
When the conspiracy unraveled, Ziro was imprisoned on Coruscant. Cad Bane freed him and turned him over to the Hutt Council, who feared that Ziro might tell the Republic of their many dirty dealings. Ziro escaped the Hutts, but could not outrun his past.
Ziro represented the Hutt business interests on Coruscant, far from crime lord Jabba's watchful eye. Ziro preferred the life of plush comfort on the capital than having to endure the hardships of Hutt Space. Jabba never trusted Ziro, but also did not think his flamboyant great uncle capable of such treachery that he would dispose of kin in his bid to secure power.
During the crisis sparked by the kidnapping of Jabba's son Rotta, Padmé Amidala began her own investigation into Hutt activity, starting with Coruscant's resident Hutt business leader, Ziro. Her snooping unraveled Ziro's plot and allegiance with Count Dooku, landing Ziro in prison. Ziro swore vengeance on Amidala.
Count Dooku secretly allied himself with Ziro the Hutt by aiding and abetting the kidnapping of Rotta the Hutt, Jabba's son. Dooku hoped to play the Republic and Jabba against each other to secure the loyalty of the Hutt clans in the Clone Wars.
Love truly is blind -- Ziro romanced the singer Sy Snootles, though their relationship was put on hold when Ziro was put behind bars. Snooty sprung him from jail, and followed her beloved all the way to Ziro's valuable holo-diary hidden on Teth... before she showed Ziro her true colors.
The Hutt crime family hired Cad Bane to not only spring Ziro the Hutt from prison, but also to track down the slippery slug when Ziro escaped Hutt custody on Nal Hutta. By the time Bane found Ziro on Teth, somebody had done his dirty work for him.
