When the nomadic Death Watch army arrived on the peaceful planet of Carlac, they intruded in the towns of the native Ming Po. Under Pre Vizsla's command, the Death Watch kidnapped many defenseless natives, forcing them to serve their needs as they set up a temporary base of operations. Not even Tryla, the grand-daughter of Chieftain Peiter was spared. Tryla befriended Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi hidden in their midst, but did not live long enough to see her town liberated.
Chieftain Pieter's town was on the tranquil, snowy world of Carlac, in the Outer Rim Territories.
Tryla was the granddaughter of Chieftain Pieter, leader of his town. Having exhausted his patience with the belligerent Death Watch, Pieter demanded that the offworlders leave at once and return his kin. When Vizsla betrayed Pieter, and attempted to run him through with his blade, Tryla jumped to his defense and took the blow intended to slay her grandfather.
At Pre Vizsla's command, the Death Watch rounded up the defenseless villagers on Carlac, and made them their servants. To reinforce his authority, Pre Vizsla began cruelly destroying the Ming Po town he had occupied. He killed Tryla with his darksaber blade.
Tryla befriended Ahsoka Tano as she posed as the betrothed of a Death Watch recruit. She advised Ahsoka not to rile the dangerous Death Watch.
