Description
The gravelly-voiced patrol chief of Otoh Gunga, Tarpals has endured many a headache caused by the antics of Jar Jar Binks. Tarpals kept an eye on the bumbling outcast, making sure the youngster didn't re-enter Gungan society. During the Trade Federation occupation of Naboo, Tarpals was part of the Gungan Grand Army that fought against the battle droid invaders. Ironically, Tarpals served under Binks, who had unexpectedly received the rank of general by Boss Nass himself. Tarpals stayed close to Binks, trying to keep his commanding officer out of trouble.
By the time of the Clone Wars, Tarpals was promoted to general, and served as leader of the Gungan Grand Army.

Grand Army
A lifelong soldier, Tarpals is part of the proud martial traditions of the Gungans. He is a skilled combatant, capable with a staff, spear, or cesta, and a swift rider when atop a kaadu. During the Clone Wars, he was promoted to general and served as leader of the Gungan Grand Army.
Naboo
Like many other Gungans of his generation, Tarpals had misgivings about the surface-dwelling Naboo people. However, he was witness to Queen Amidala's humbling plea for help from the Gungans, and came to respect his world-mates ever since.
Jar Jar Binks
When Jar Jar returned to Otoh Gunga with some offworlders in tow, Captain Tarpals intercepted the trespassers. Jar Jar had broken the nocomebackie law, a boss-decreed banishment that exiled Jar Jar into the swamps. Tarpals had no choice but to take Jar Jar to meet with the bosses in shackles.
