A Senator of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Mina Bonteri had been a friend to Padmé Amidala, serving as her mentor on Naboo. Padmé missed her friend dearly, but contact between the Separatist and Republic governments was illegal during the Clone Wars. Nonetheless, Padmé secretly voyaged to Raxus, where she developed a peace accord with Mina. Bonteri proposed the peace overture to the Separatist government, finding support. The corporate barons secretly profiting the war did not agree, however. Mina died under mysterious circumstances, supposedly killed by the Republic, and her peace effort died as well. She was survived by her son, Lux Bonteri, who took her place in the Senate representing their home world of Onderon.
Mina cares greatly for Lux and has grown concerned about how withdrawn her son has become since the death of his father.
Mina has long been a friend to Padmé Amidala, serving as a mentor early in the young Naboo politician's career. The sudden outbreak of the Clone Wars saw Mina and Padmé separated on opposing sides of the war.
Mina, like many in the Confederacy, had no idea of the worst aspects of Separatist Alliance's battle against the Republic. The Confederate citizens were shielded from tales of General Grievous' onslaughts.
Mina Bonteri represented her home planet of Onderon in the Separatist Parliament. The planet allied with the Separatists with the coming of King Sanjay Rash.
