Description
A clumsy, well-meaning Gungan outcast on Naboo, Jar Jar Binks struggled to prove his worth throughout his life. Putting his awkward past behind him, Jar Jar left the swamps of Naboo to enter the even murkier waters of Coruscant politics, becoming a representative for his people in the galactic capital. There, his best intentions and eagerness to serve were exploited by scheming Senators and others in positions of power.

Relationships
Padmé
Amidala
While Padmé Amidala represented Naboo in the Galactic Senate, Jar Jar was part of the Senatorial delegation, serving the interests of the Gungan Rep Council. In Padmé's absence, Jar Jar was given full authority over Naboo's representation.
Naboo
Jar Jar has come a long way since living as an outcast in the Naboo swamps. Jar Jar's friendship with Queen Amidala helped unite the normally isolationist Gungans with the human colonists living on the surface.
Qui-Gon Jinn
Qui-Gon Jinn saved Jar Jar's life during the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo. Jar Jar swore loyalty to Qui-Gon, claiming that he had a life debt to the Jedi. Qui-Gon was able to look past Jar Jar's clumsy antics, and see real potential in the kind-hearted Gungan.
Anakin Skywalker
Young Anakin Skywalker saved Jar Jar from being pummeled by a mean-spirited Dug on Tatooine. When Anakin and Jar Jar both ended up on Coruscant in the company of the Jedi, they bonded over never having seen a planet quite like the bustling city-covered world.
Palpatine
As the Separatist crisis escalated and the Republic teetered on the brink of full scale war, it was imperative that the Supreme Chancellor be given authority to use the newly discovered clone army on Kamino. It was Jar Jar who proposed to the Senate that Palpatine be given emergency powers in the face of this crisis.
