A loathsome slug of a gangster, Jabba the Hutt was the preeminent kingpin of crime in the Outer Rim Territories. Basing his operations out of Tatooine, the Hutt had his pudgy fingers in a number of criminal activities -- slavery, gunrunning, spice-smuggling, extortion and more.
A hefty Hutt, Jabba resembled a worm-like slug, with a legless, tapered body coated in slime. Jabba surrounded himself with some of the worst thugs in the galaxy, ensuring his protection with a screen of henchmen and hired guns. He lived in a palace out in the Tatooine deserts.
Jabba's sandblasted palace lies at the end of a lonely, winding road in the Tatooine deserts. Inside is a raucous assembly of some of the worst dregs in the galaxy, all gathered in hopes of gaining the Hutt's favor and avoiding his wrath.
Solo's debt to Jabba eventually accumulated to the point that the gangster placed a death mark on Solo's head, and sent a number of bounty hunters after him. A mercenary in Jabba's employ eventually caught up with the Corellian smuggler, delivering his quarry encased in carbonite to the gangster Hutt on Tatooine.
As the galaxy's preeminent bounty hunter, Fett was often hired by Jabba the Hutt for special assignments -- such as tracking down Han Solo.
Ziro represented the Hutt business interests on Coruscant, far from crime lord Jabba's watchful eye. Ziro preferred the life of plush comfort on the capital rather than having to endure the hardships of Hutt Space. Jabba never trusted Ziro, but also did not think his flamboyant great uncle capable of such treachery that he would dispose of kin in his bid to secure power.
Jabba the Hutt occasionally hired the Rodian bounty hunter for various mercenary jobs, including the capture of Han Solo, who dropped a large shipment of illicit cargo owned by the Hutt gangster to avoid arrest.
