Greedo was a Rodian bounty hunter with a tapir-like snout, bulbous eyes, pea-green skin, and a crest of spines atop his skull. He was overzealous and a bit slow on the take, not to mention a pretty poor shot with a blaster. Though he fancied himself a big time bounty hunter in the employ of no less an underworld figure than Jabba the Hutt, in truth, no one took him too seriously.
Greedo challenged Han Solo in the Mos Eisley Cantina. At blaster point, the Rodian demanded Solo pay his debt to Jabba -- money the smuggler claimed he didn't currently possess. Greedo lost his patience, and opened fire -- but missed. Solo quickly reciprocated, blasting through the cantina table and the Rodian's chest.
After discovering Greedo's blood at the scene of his two daughters' kidnapping, Chairman Papanoida of Pantora tracked the bounty hunter to Tatooine, where he presented his criminal evidence to Jabba the Hutt. Exposed, Greedo led Papanoida and his son to a seedy bar in Mos Eisley, where one of the daughters was reunited with her father and brother after a brief but intense firefight. During the melee, Greedo managed to slip away.
As a boy on Tatooine, Greedo accused Anakin Skywalker of cheating in the Boonta Eve Classic podrace. After a brief scuffle, Greedo's friend Wald warned the young Rodian: "Keep this up, Greedo, and you're gonna come to a bad end."
A favorite watering hole of Greedo, and essentially the bounty hunter's base of operations, the Mos Eisley Cantina served as the mercenary's preferred venue for death deals, including, ironically, his own.
Jabba the Hutt occasionally hired the Rodian bounty hunter for various mercenary jobs, including the capture of Han Solo, who dropped a large shipment of illicit cargo owned by the Hutt gangster to avoid arrest.
