Bail Organa, a member of Alderaan's royal family and the planet's representative to the Republic Senate, earned respect on Coruscant for his honesty and his commitment to justice. Prior to the Clone Wars, Bail served alongside Senator Padmé Amidala as a member of Chancellor Palpatine's Loyalist Committee. The two became close friends, and recruited like-minded allies to prevent Palpatine's alarming grabs for power. At the end of the war, Bail Organa adopted Padmé's daughter Leia and raised her as an Alderaanian princess. Bail died when the Death Star destroyed his homeworld.
Bail Organa and the Queen of Alderaan adopted Leia as a newborn. Only Bail, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda knew that young Leia was the offspring of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala. Bail raised her daughter to be a conscientious politician and leader in the Rebel Alliance.
Padmé Amidala and Bail Organa worked closely in the Galactic Senate. Both were members of the Loyalist Committee, supporting the Republic and the Chancellor against the threat of the Separatists. Both, however, grew concerned at the increasing changes in the Republic and the Galactic Constitution at the time of the war.
Bail Organa was wary of Halle Burtoni's political gambits during the Clone Wars. Though he believed the Republic needed to succeed, he felt Burtoni's influence unduly extended the war in order to garner profits and power to Kamino.
Bail greatly respected the Jedi Order. On many occasions during the Clone Wars, the Jedi served Bail in relief missions and other humanitarian operations. Obi-Wan Kenobi was instrumental in helping Bail help the people of Christophsis.
Bail Organa saved Yoda after Chancellor Palpatine declared himself Emperor and declared the Jedi Knights to be enemies of the state.
