    ARC Trooper Fives

Also known as CT-27-5555, Fives trained with Domino Squad on Kamino before being shipped out to the Rishi Moon listening outpost. He survived the Separatist attack on the station there, and was transferred to the 501st Legion alongside his squadmate and fellow survivor, Echo. Fives and Echo were promoted to ARC trooper status after the defense of Kamino from Separatist invaders. He and Echo were later assigned with the difficult mission of freeing Republic prisoners from the daunting Citadel prison installation on Lola Sayu. He and Echo were later part of a mission to free Republic prisoners from the Separatist prison called the Citadel. Echo fell in battle, leaving Fives as Domino Squad’s sole survivor. Fives accompanied the clone trooper Tup to Kamino for medical testing, where he discovered a terrifying secret about the clones’ origins and ultimate purpose.

History

Fives and Echo as cadets on Kamino

CT-5555 would eventually win renown as an ARC trooper, but his early career wasn’t particularly promising. As a clone cadet on Kamino, Fives was part of Domino Squad with Cutup, Hevy, Echo and Droidbait – and Domino Squad consistently failed its training exercises because the five troopers were unable to work as a team.

Fives and Echo sought to transfer out of the squad, but were persuaded to stay, and helped the Dominos pull together as a team and graduate. They were then assigned to seemingly dull duty at a listening post on one of Rishi’s moons. The routine assignment proved anything but, however, as commando droids invaded the post. Their squadmates died defending the base, but Fives and Echo survived and were inducted into the prestigious 501st Legion.

Fives and the 501st escaping an ambush on Umbara

Fives and Echo returned to Kamino to defend the clone production facilities from a Separatist invasion. The two showed both courage under fire and an ability to improvise, and were awarded with promotions to ARC trooper.

The two were part of a team of clone troopers and Jedi sent to rescue Even Piell and Captain Tarkin from the Citadel, a feared Separatist prison. Echo was killed during the operation, leaving Fives as Domino Squad’s sole survivor. On Umbara, Fives opposed Jedi General Pong Krell’s tactics. Disobeying Krell’s orders, he and two other clones attacked an orbiting Separatist supply ship using stolen Umbaran starfighters. Their plan worked, but Krell ordered them executed – a sentence Fives escaped when the clones rebelled against Krell.

Fives holding his arms up in surrender on Kamino

During the fight for Ringo Vinda, Fives watched in horror as the clone trooper Tup murdered Jedi General Tiplar. He accompanied Tup to Kamino for a medical examination, and worked with the droid AZI-3 to investigate what had led to Tup’s breakdown. Fives’ dogged pursuit of the truth would lead him to a frightening secret about the clones’ origins, and result in his death.

  • Fives’ career in the Grand Army of the Republic almost ended before it began – as a clone cadet on Kamino, he and the other members of Domino Squad struggled to complete the training exercises necessary for graduation. Fives and his squadmates Cutup, Droidbait, Echo and Hevy bickered constantly instead of working together, to the dissatisfaction of those overseeing their training.

  • Frustrated with their squadmates, Fives and Echo asked Shaak Ti to transfer them to another unit. But the Jedi refused, instead counseling Fives and Echo that they had to stop thinking of themselves as individuals and start working as a group.

  • Inspired by pep talks from Shaak Ti and the maintenance clone 99, Fives and his squadmates finally pulled together, completing a difficult training exercise and earning the right to graduate and join the fight against the Separatists.

  • But if Fives thought he was off to the front lines, he was in for a rude surprise. The clone troopers of Domino Squad was assigned to a lonely outpost on a moon in the Rishi system, seemingly far from any chance at glory.

  • Everything changed when Separatist commando droids attacked the Rishi Moon, seeking to seize the listening post in preparation for an assault on Kamino. Fives, Echo and Hevy survived the attack and worked with Rex and Cody – who arrived on an inspection tour – to recapture the outpost from the Separatists.

  • In the fight for the outpost, Fives was wounded and Hevy sacrificed his life to foil the Separatists’ plans. Fives and Echo – no longer inexperienced “shinies” -- were decorated for their bravery and inducted into the elite 501st Legion.

  • When Fives and Echo returned to Kamino to defend it against a Separatist invasion, they did so as seasoned veterans. Walking through the sterile white Kaminoan corridors, they remembered their own training as cadets and vowed to defend their home.

  • The two clone troopers served as snipers under the clone commander Havoc, then improvised a desperate defense against invading battle droids. With the help of maintenance clone 99 and young clone trainees, the clone troopers played a key role in stopping the droids’ advance, then mourned 99’s death in the fighting.

  • Fives and Echo had once again proved themselves in battle, and so earned an even more prestigious promotion – induction into the ranks of the Republic’s ARC troopers.

  • After Even Piell and Captain Tarkin were captured, Fives and Echo joined a team of Jedi and clones tasked with rescuing them from the Separatist prison known as the Citadel. To get past the prison’s life scanners, the clones had to be frozen in carbonite.

  • The team managed to rescue the prisoners, but escaping the Citadel would prove more difficult. Fives and Echo accompanied Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and Tarkin after the group split up in an effort to avoid detection. Battle droids pursued them through the planet Lola Sayu’s caves as they rushed to reach their shuttle and escape.

  • The two groups linked up again at the airfield, but found themselves in a pitched fight with battle droids, who destroyed the shuttle. The blast killed Echo, leaving Fives as the last surviving member of Domino Squad.

  • During the Republic invasion of Umbara, Fives and the young clone troopers Tup and Hardcase were attacked by a fearsome, shadowy predator known as a vixus. The quick-thinking ARC trooper saved himself by hurling a thermal detonator into the beast’s maw.

  • When Pong Krell took over command of the 501st Legion on Umbara, Fives was one of the Jedi General’s fiercest critics, decrying Krell’s insistence on full-frontal assaults that were guaranteed to cost many clones their lives.

  • Krell ordered the clones to make a suicidal frontal attack on an Umbaran airbase, leaving Fives on the edge of open rebellion. Captain Rex sent Fives and Hardcase to infiltrate the airbase. The clones succeeded and stole two Umbaran fighters, giving the clones the air support they desperately needed.

  • The clones took the airbase, but Krell ordered them to press on to the Umbaran capital. Fives proposed flying Umbaran fighters into orbit to attack a key Separatist supply ship, a plan Krell rejected as a frivolous adventure. When Fives decided to disobey the Jedi General’s orders, Rex warned his friend that he wouldn’t be able to cover for him.

  • Fives’ plan succeeded, but a furious Krell ordered him and clone trooper Jesse executed for insubordination. The other clones refused the order and Rex freed Fives and Jesse.

  • After Krell sent clone troops into battle against each other, Rex ordered his men to arrest the Jedi General for treason. Fives and Jesse joined the attack against this formidable opponent.

  • The clones captured Krell, but Rex’s training made it extremely difficult for him to contemplate executing a Jedi. It was the clone trooper Dogma – who’d been Krell’s most ardent supporter – who carried out the sentence, yanking Fives’ blaster from its holster in a fit of anger and shooting the traitorous Jedi.

  • On Ringo Vinda, Fives watched with concern as Tup became confused in battle. The ARC trooper urged his colleague to focus – but was stunned when Tup murdered Jedi General Tiplar, muttering that “good soldiers follow orders.”

  • Anakin Skywalker ordered Fives to figure out what had happened to Tup, but the Republic’s clone medics and medical droids were baffled – and Tup himself didn’t remember what he’d done. The clone was sent back to Kamino for study by the Kaminoan cloners who’d created the Grand Army of the Republic.

  • After Separatist droids ambushed Tup’s shuttle and kidnapped him, Fives joined a raid to retrieve the luckless clone. After the mission succeeded, Fives pleaded with Rex to let him accompany his friend to Kamino.

  • Shaak Ti and the Kaminoan scientist Nala Se examined Tup, but Fives became concerned that the Kaminoan didn’t truly care for the clone’s well-being. He convinced medical droid AZI-3 to take another look at Tup – and the droid found a tumor in the clone’s brain. AZI-3 surgically removed the tumor, but the procedure resulted in Tup’s death. A furious Nala Se ordered Fives arrested.

  • When Fives caught Nala Se switching Tup’s tumor with another sample, he knew something was badly wrong and escaped his guards, stealing the tumor and fleeing with AZI-3. Infiltrating the genetic records hall, the two discovered that Tup’s tumor matched nothing in Jango Fett’s genotype -- it was foreign tissue implanted for some mysterious reason.

  • Fives convinced AZI-3 to operate on him, and the droid found a tumor similar to the one in Tup’s brain – except Fives’ was healthy, while Tup’s had decomposed. Fives and AZI-3 discovered that the tumor was a bio-chip, and every clone had one implanted during his development. The furious ARC trooper confronted Nala Se, who said the chips were structural inhibitors designed to curb aggression – and had been implanted on orders from the Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas.

  • Shaak Ti, Nala Se and Fives traveled to Coruscant to present the ARC trooper’s discovery to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in person. But on the way, Nala Se surreptitiously injected Fives with an unknown drug.

  • Fives and Palpatine spoke alone – but there was the sound of a scuffle and Shaak Ti entered the room to discover the clone standing over Palpatine with a weapon. Palpatine said the clone trooper had attacked him. A shocked Fives fled, escaping into Coruscant’s lawless lower levels.

  • Fives had stumbled upon not just a secret bio-chip but also a conspiracy that apparently included the Kaminoans and the Jedi and reached all the way to Palpatine himself. But he knew his story sounded crazy: Who would believe that Nala Se had drugged him and his assault on the Supreme Chancellor was staged? A desperate Fives asked his old comrade Kix to help him contact Captain Rex and Anakin Skywalker.

  • Rex and Anakin met Fives, who trapped them within a force shield so he could explain what had happened. But the ARC trooper knew he had no proof of what sounded like an insane, paranoid story. As Fives pleaded with his old friends, shocktroopers led by Commander Fox burst in and ordered him to surrender. Fives panicked and grabbed one of Rex’s pistols, but was shot and mortally wounded. Dying, he told Rex the conspiracy was bigger than anyone could have imagined.

    Clone Captain Rex

Rex once served the Republic on the frontlines during the Clone Wars, taking orders from Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano as first a captain and later a commander. He viewed military service as an honor, and his loyalty to the Republic and his Jedi Generals was absolute. But when Order 66 was executed, it was Ahsoka who helped to free Rex from the programming of his inhibitor chip. At the dawn of the Empire, Rex has escaped with his life but is considered killed-in-action in the eyes of the new regime. That allows him to operate in the shadows and help any clone brothers who remain separate from the Imperial ranks.

    Clone 99

During the Clone Wars, Clone 99 was a malformed result of the cloning process. Due to his genetic defects and physical limitations, he was considered unfit for combat, and remained behind on Kamino to support the training efforts of his clone "brothers." Though his responsibilities were menial and his job consisted primarily of janitorial duties, he took pride in his work and in his connection to the Republic's noble heroes. Despite (or perhaps because of) his physical shortcomings, Clone 99 was gentle, thoughtful and wise, offering a unique perspective for cadets facing the rigors of military training. During the Separatist invasion of Tipoca City, he assisted a group of clone cadets in their defense of the cloning facility.

  • Clone Trooper Dogma

    default

    Clone Trooper Dogma

Fervently loyal to the Galactic Republic, trooper Dogma was one of the newer generation of clone troopers fighting on the frontlines of the Clone Wars. Unlike seasoned veterans like Clone Captain Rex and ARC Trooper Fives, Dogma was more rigid in his thinking, easily -- and eagerly -- submitting to appropriate authority. When clones troopers of the 501st began grousing about General Krell's obstinate and dangerous command style, Dogma jumped to defend their commander. Dogma supported the general -- and passionately believed in their duty to carry out his orders.

    Kamino

Once purged from the otherwise complete Jedi Archives was all evidence of the mysterious world of Kamino. A lonely world beyond the Outer Rim and just south of the Rishi Maze, few could have predicted that Kamino would become a key contributor to a massive shift in political power in the final days of the Republic. Kamino is a planet of endless oceans and storms. Few features mark its surface, save for massive stilt-mounted cities wherein reside the planet's natural inhabitants, the Kaminoans. From Tipoca City, the planet's prime minister rules. Lama Su and Kamino’s chief medical scientist Nala Se closely monitor the operations of Kamino's most prized export -- clones -- even after the Clone Wars reaches a conclusion.

    Umbara

Umbara, known as the "Shadow World" due to the rays of its sun never completely reaching its surface, is perpetually dark. The native wildlife have adapted to survive in such gloom, making the planet perpetually dangerous. Umbara was once part of the Galactic Republic, represented in the Senate by Senator Mee Deechi. Later in the Clone Wars, the planet's loyalty wavered and the natives of Umbara allied themselves with the Separatists, bringing their extremely advanced technology to the Separatist Alliance.

  • General Pong Krell

    General Pong Krell

This Besalisk Jedi is all about getting results and, indeed, his battlefield record lists many key victories in the Clone Wars. He has an unshakable confidence in his methods, and he will brook no insubordination among his charges. In personal combat, he can be ferocious -- his giant arms carry two double-ended lightsabers, making him extremely dangerous in close quarters. Pong Krell's reputation as a successful general is well known but so is the fact that the casualty rates of the clone troopers under his command are the highest.
