It's "The Pandora Effect" that's singled out for inclusion on this checklist for the pure malevolence portrayed within. The Millennium Falcon and a pursuing group of gangsters get transported into a pocket-dimension governed by the Five, a quintet of evil-worshiping aristocrats who toy with their imprisoned subjects. As Suzal, the leader of the Five describes:
Yes, my astute young friend. We are indeed a religious order. We worship the left-handed god. The soulworm. The lady with the locust heart. We worship evil, my handsome child. We are Five. And this is the place where you will die.
As demonstration of their power, the Five brandish a wand that emits a cloud-like black talon which wraps around the head of one of the gangsters, a towering hulk named Leelu, who has yet to say a word in the comic. An anguished voice balloon is all that's "heard," and Moore's descriptive text lets us know how rare it is for Leelu to say anything: "Leelu is a mute. He cannot speak. But as the black fireclaw crushes his face, Leelu screams!"
The tale gets stranger still, as readers are introduced to a powerful Force creature encased in a prism by the Five, who lusts for bloody vengeance. In the span of a few short pages, this being -- Wutzek -- is unleashed and tears apart the Five.
