Episode V: Death of Admiral Ozzel

Moving onto The Empire Strikes Back, this manga adaptation is by Toshiki Kudo. Ozzel's death occurs as it does in the film, with Vader telekinetically strangling the officer while he is on the holographic viewscreen. Ozzel writhes and convulses over more than five panels in a fit that includes such gruesome details as frothing saliva and possibly blood.

The original Marvel take lasts only two panels, and is constructed from reference photography of a different scene altogether. Given the number of new Imperial officer characters in Episode V, a mistake such as this is understandable. Artists Al Williamson and Carlos Garzon have used the likeness of Captain Needa to depict Ozzel's death. Since Needa's death occurred right in front of Vader (he did go to the Dark Lord to apologize in person, after all), the action does not match what is seen in the movie.
