The Podrace champion Sebulba earned riches for his repeated wins in the dangerous sport, and he invested most of them back into his beloved vehicle. Sebulba's Podracer was an imposing giant, an orange-hued bully of a craft whose pounding, thundering engine roar seemed powerful enough to knock down opponents.

Not content to rely solely on his own racing skills, Sebulba outfitted his Podracer with a number of blatantly illegal surprises. A hidden flamethrower could cook nearby opponents who dared to pass the Dug. During the Boonta Eve Classic, Sebulba ignited Clegg Holdfast's engines, sending him crashing into the desert flats.

The massive split-X engines were strong enough for Sebulba to ram and muscle his way past smaller Podracers. The unsuspecting Mawhonic found himself on the recieving end of a sideswipe during the first lap of the Boonta. Sebulba repeated rammed the Gran's racer, sending the three-eyed racer crashing out of control.

In the final stretch of the Boonta, Sebulba tried his dirty tricks on young Anakin Skywalker. An attempted ram entangled both their control linkages. Anakin was able to free his vehicle from Sebulba's, but the Dug lost control. Sebulba's huge engines plowed into a rocky outcropping, shattering into a million pieces, and sending the Dug's cockpit spinning into the sand.

From the Expanded Universe

If racing officials ever cared to take a close look at Sebulba's giant Collor Pondrat Plug-F Mammoth Split-X engines, they would have classfied them as illegal on numerous counts. The oversized engines (7.8 meters in length) could achieve a top speed of 829 kilometers per hour. The engines were fueled by tradium power fluid pressurized with quold runium, activated with ionized injectrine.

Behind the Scenes

The shape of Sebulba's cockpit was inspired by an inverted Fairchild A-10 Thunderbolt plane. Early design sketches show that the split-X configuration was in a different shape than in the final design.
