Mars Guo's immense Podrace engine intakes served as clearly visible targets for Sebulba's dirty tricks. The scheming Dug tossed a bit of metal debris into the engines during the race, causing a catastrophic malfunction. Guo's racer was dashed against the desert flats, littering wreckage all over the racecourse.

From the Expanded Universe

Mars' expensive Collor Pondrat Plug-2 Behemoth was a sight to behold, and a powerful vehicle to control. Its large engines provided it with a higher flight ceiling than most racers. It boasted a top speed of 790 kilometers per hour, and had excellent traction and good acceleration.

Behind the Scenes

For the crashing of Mars Guo's Podracer, Industrial Light & Magic developed new simulation software to work out the trajectories of the hundreds of fragments sent flying into the air.
