What's the Story: The Fans Set the Facts
March 27, 2008

From 2005 to 2008, Star Wars fans were given an unprecedented opportunity to make their mark on the Expanded Universe. Hyperspace, the Official Star Wars Fan Club launched its "What's the Story" feature, where members could pitch potential back-stories for Star Wars characters, vehicles, locales, aliens and more that did not have any associated lore already written. In some cases, the subject was a complete blank slate. In others, fans had to work with the barest of established information. With each new entry, fans got to flex their creativity and show off their knowledge of the growing expanded universe, proposing histories that would fit well into the established lore. These entries were vetted by editors at Lucasfilm and finally given the green light as official Star Wars information. Some of these stories have already found their way into other published sources, including sourcebooks and action figures. Here are all 61 winning entries. Congratulations to all Hyperspace members who got to add to the ever-growing Star Wars mythos.
