The clone troopers that stormed the world of Geonosis during the first battle of the Clone Wars were fully supported by air and ground vehicles. Piloting the Republic attack gunships were specially trained clone trooper pilots. Their uniforms bore yellow markings and specialized helmets.

As the Clone Wars spread and the nature of combat became more specialized, the pilot ranks also grew. Clone starfighter pilots operated the ARC-170 and V-wing fighters that engaged Separatist forces in the depths of space or the skies of scattered worlds. They wore specialized equipment that aided in the piloting of their advanced craft.

During the Battle of Coruscant, Squad Seven -- led by Clone Commander Odd Ball -- was instrumental in holding off enemy forces and allowing the Jedi duo of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker infiltrate General Grievous' fleeing flagship.
