From the Movies

He may be one of the smaller dealers in Mos Espa, but the Toydarian merchant Watto nonetheless maintained a well-stocked junk shop near the outskirts of town. Upon entering the darkened interior, the fluttering alien would great prospective customers with a gruff "Hi chuba da nago?" ("What do you want?"). If his cluttered shop fails to deliver the desired wares, the adjoining junkyard usually suffices. Like most Mos Espa merchants, Watto only takes local currency.

From the Expanded Universe

Watto added the bell-shaped top to his shop's dome in homage to his native Toydaria. The apex forms a comfortable perch not unlike the muck nest of his home planet. Watto learned much of his business savvy from the native Jawas, whom he deals with often.

Behind the Scenes

The interior of Watto's hut was filmed on a sound stage in Leavesden, England. The rough draft of the script describes the interior as a "dirty mess," infested with thousands of "fly-like creatures."
