From the Movies

Rodent-like vermin that infests the streets of cities like Mos Eisley, the Tatooine scurrier is named for its swift gait and skittish temperament. They are small, two-legged runners that subsist on refuse and stolen food. The males are easily distinguished from the females by their crown of twisting antlers.

From the Expanded Universe

While scurriers are quick to flee from larger creatures, they are nonetheless very territorial. Scurriers will attempt to fight off anything that wanders near to their nest, bravely defending their food hoards and youngster with painful bites and high-pitched squeals. Scurriers travel in packs of up to 30 individuals, and have been known to appropriate abandoned profogg nests.

Behind the Scenes

The scurrier design was refined through sketches by TyRuben Ellingson. The computer-generated models of the scurrier have a most unlikely predecessor -- the two legged form were heavily modified models loosely based on velociraptor studies developed for Jurassic Park.
